We recently connected with Daisy Jve and have shared our conversation below.
Daisy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
Well, I actually started doing hair when I was in the 10th grade. I had just turnt 16 (I think) and my first client name was Nique Nique . I remember like yesterday I did her hair on the first day of school in my room . So I started really young but I didn’t start taking my craft serious until after the pandemic. I was doing hair because I loved it , but then I started getting good and it shocked me honestly, so I told myself , “maybe it’s time I start to follow my true dreams” which was to peruse my career as being a celebrity hairstylist . I know that had to come with me learning different techniques and working on my attitude. So I did just that . It wasn’t easy but it worked for me .
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Well, my Name is Daisy also know as Daisydoesmyhair . I’ve been doing hair since a jit . I absolutely Love doing hair . Everytime im going through something, I literally use to run to the salon just to take my mind of things . I specialize in weaves and natural styles . I’ve literally came a long way . It hasn’t always been peaches and cream, I’ve had my ups and downs , I’ve been talked about GOOD and Bad , I’ve been in darn near every popping salon in ATL. I currently work at SnobLife salon , this by far is the BEST salon I’ve worked at . I truly feel like I’m different from most stylists because my heart is in this business. I do a lot of things off love and I use to try to not move like that but since I gave my life to Christ , God has showed me it’s ok to do things off Love. Even though I’m my biggest critic, I mean who isn’t ? Lol I am truly proud of myself . I see my growth everyday I wake up . I’m proud of me and I thank God every chance I get .
How did you build your audience on social media?
The key to social media is CONTENT hunny. You gots to give the people a sight to see. The girls faces need to be BEAT , they need to put on a cute but not forced outfit . Dainty jewelry, and a bomb hairstyle to match . But all of that wouldn’t even matter if the lighting isn’t TOP TIER . You must have good lighting. That’s the trick, that’s the tea, and add a couple of hashtags ,with a trending song and BOOM , you did joe lol that’s all you gots to do .
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped my reputation is I was always and very consistent. Now they might have a couple of stories to tell about us atlanta hairstylist, but I was probably the most consistent stylist of our generation. I stayed at the shop taking 5-10 heads a day . Until I started getting losing and had way more responsibilities, but other than that, I know for a fact I was very consistent.
