Hi Daisy, thanks for joining us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?

Coming out of the pandemic in 2021, I embarked on a transformative journey from a stay-at-home mom to the proud owner of an Etsy shop, where sneakers became my canvas. Determined to master the craft, I navigated the intricacies of leather paint, experimented with different finishes, and embraced the challenge of painting non-leather surfaces. Learning Photoshop added a digital dimension, allowing me to create captivating mock-ups for customers. This journey, encompassing the comprehension of paint chemistry, exploration of digital creativity, and development of business acumen, narrates a tale of resilience, passion, and the journey from being a novice to achieving Etsy mastery

I’m Daisy, the passionate artist behind ByDaisyGiselle on Etsy! In 2021 amidst the challenges of a global pandemic, I embarked on a creative adventure that would become my solace and sanctuary – custom painting children’s Nike Air Force 1’s. At the time, I became pregnant and became a stay-at-home wife. One day I decided to paint a Winnie the Pooh design on a pair of baby Nike’s for my future daughter. I decided to post a photo and create a listing on Etsy, and thus, my Etsy shop was born. I was instantly flooded with orders for the same design, meanwhile also creating new designs for custom orders.

Being pregnant during those uncertain times, painting became a therapeutic outlet, a way to infuse positivity and color into my surroundings. The process of transforming a simple sneaker into a personalized masterpiece became not just a business but a labor of love.

At ByDaisyGiselle, I specialize in creating one-of-a-kind, hand-painted sneaker. Each pair is meticulously crafted to reflect personal stories and memories, or even dreams. From vibrant color palettes to intricate designs, I aim to turn ordinary footwear into something children will fall in love with.

The most rewarding part of it all is that my daughter has been able to grow up seeing me paint, thus encouraging her to be creative as well. As a first time mom, I decided to focus on both my baby and my growing Etsy shop. A year later I made the decision to reintroduce myself to my first love – interior design. As a first-time mom turned Etsy entrepreneur, the prospect of re-entering the workforce was met with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.

The journey back to my roots in interior design was a deliberate choice, a choice that required balancing the responsibilities of motherhood, running a successful Etsy shop, and diving into a demanding profession.
