We were lucky to catch up with Daisy Campos recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Daisy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I started my photography on June 1st, 2016. I did not have a job at the time and wanted to keep busy while getting my creative side going. My brother, was into photography at the time and he use to practice on me. I saw how excited he got when he got the shots he envisioned so thought I would give it a try. I started taking portraits of my friends, family and eventually strangers. In 2018, I had a photographer friend reach about to me about modeling for him for a boudoir shoot. I have always been self-conscious about myself but decided to go for it. I invited my friend Sheena to help me model since she had experience. Ever since that photo shoot, my confidence changed. My husband noticed how much that session helped me see myself in a positive way and has been supportive say day 1. He is my assistant and videographer for my sessions. I saw myself differently and wanted to help others feel what I felt. In 2019, I started leaning from portraits into boudoir to help others with their confidence.
Daisy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started with portraits in 2016 and shot as much as possible. I took pictures of everything. My camera was always in my hand. My husband and I met a lot of amazing people along the way who have helped us grow into who we are today. I remember when I told our friends , I was transitioning into boudoir, they were supportive and still are to this day. When I had my first boudoir shoot of myself in 2018, is when I wanted to get into Boudoir. I knew that if that experience helped me with my confidence, we would be able to help others with theirs. Our bodies constantly go through so many changes, the best thing to do is learn to accept them and love our bodies as they are. Boudoir is an experience. The moment a client books their session, that’s when their experience begins. We help clients prepare by sending them emails regarding what to wear, places to shop, tips and tricks , and letting them know we will guide them the whole way.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I have been a photographer for 6 years and a Boudoir photographer for 3 years. I recently just quit my corporate job to pursue my dreams of a full time Boudoir photographer and boutique owner. I own With Love, Daze boutique. Which is a lingerie and swimwear collection I started to help make it easier for clients when they are not sure where to shop or would like everything in one place. I started the collection in July 2021 and our clients are grateful to have a one stop business. I am learning that a lot of work goes into being an entrepreneur. Having to switch my mindset from “this is a hobby” to “this is my job, a business”. everyone around us has been very supportive of this transition and we are excited to see where it takes us.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is learning that everyone has a unique story that makes them who they are. We have met so many amazing people and continue to help change their lives one session at a time.
