Dainelle , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started out in the beauty industry as a passionate makeup artist, with a particular love for waxing brows and coloring hair. But as I went through cosmetology school, I realized my calling went beyond makeup. Having Sisterlocks TM established in my own hair sparked a passion in me, and I became dedicated to sharing how incredible this locking system is with others. After graduating and getting licensed, I built an exclusive loc clientele, which wasn’t easy, but because so few licensed/natural stylists in my area were interested in specializing in Sisterlocks TM at the time, my business grew quickly.
Now, I’m a cosmetology instructor at Columbus Technical College in Columbus, Ga and a continuing education provider for licensed professionals in Georgia and Florida.
This success of teaching my clients led me to teaching professionals my clients were my first students and they gave me the confidence to show and train others how to maintain their beauty and business. This pushed me to create a Colorblast Pro. Academy, where I teach individuals how to enhance their beauty and mentor other stylists on how build businesses around their true passions, while charging what they are worth.
I
,and it allowed me to open my own business just three months after graduating. I’m still running that business today, and in 2021, I left my federal job to pursue my dreams full-time.
In January 2025, I’ll be opening Colorblast Salon and Spa Suites, providing a professional space for both new and experienced stylists to grow their businesses in our community. I’ve been selected to teach other professionals how to scale their business successfully at three of Worlds largest international hair shows: Bronner Brothers, Orlando Premiere, and World Natural Hair Shows since 2019!
What sets me apart is my dedication to not only providing services but also educating clients and professionals on hair care and business practices, helping others grow and thrive in this industry. I help women with natural hair embrace their beauty by providing low-maintenance, time-saving solutions for everyday women. I love seeing the smiles and excitement of my clients as they come in to get their locs maintained by us.
The level of communication and commitment we share is beyond anything I could have imagined, which has helped build a loyal clientele and allowed me to stay consistent with both my time and the quality of services I offer.
This service has also given me the opportunity to teach my clients the value of my expertise, while feeling appreciated for the trust they place in me. I’m proud that, as a licensed stylist, I stepped outside of the box to offer a service that many were unsure of or avoided because it wasn’t popular. By doing so, I was able to build a successful business around Sisterlocks™, a service that continues to impact both my clients and my career.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I remember in 2018 decided to start my YouTube channel I took a class and understood that in order to get more sales I really share who I was and what I do who I serve. I remember making this video at like 12:00 AM I’m working for the federal give I had to be to work at like 7:00 Am and I’m making a video thinking no one will watch no one will share. This video build my confidence to start going live and truly teaching and helping my audience to learn more about what I do So I would say people just want to know who you authentically are as a person they want to know that you’ve made mistakes your experiences down falls and improvements. Always be honest and real and engage with them respond like their photos ask them questions what do they want to know? Most importantly just communicate with them even if it’s in a post be relatable.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Yes and I’m so glad my side hustle is now my main career. I was a medical assistant for over 15 years and I worked as a medical support assistant. I was married to a soldier and after we divorced I knew I wasn’t about to change me or my kids lifestyle we were going to live better not worse too I decide since I loved makeup that would be my side hustle to I went to a school in Atlanta ga Gwyniss mossy makeup academy and that were it all begin. After that I enrolled in Cosmetology school while working full time your days a week my schedule with two children was 6:00 AM -3::00 PM
Drop off at the sitter4:00 pm then 5:00 PM-10:00 PM Mon-Thursday for almost 15 months Cosmetology school. While in school I became a Sisterlock trainee which was the best decision ever.
Out of 15 students in night class with me only 1 graduated the program with me.
I build such a loyal clientele that it forced me to leave my federal job on Fort Benning as a medical support assistant to a full time stylist in my salon to now hiring employees!
