We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daina Daniels. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daina below.
Hi Daina, thanks for joining us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
I show customers appreciation by actively listening to their needs and concerns, personalizing my approach, responding promptly to inquiries and requests, following up to ensure satisfaction, recognizing their loyalty through promotions or rewards, and expressing gratitude through verbal and written communication. Building strong relationships with customers through appreciation and understanding their unique needs is key to success.
In a more specific situation, I had customers who found me at a local market in Boulder. We had a great conversation about how they had just moved to Colorado and were looking for a new place to live. I saw them again close to a year later and asked them if they had had any success with finding a home in the area they were looking. They were so surprised that I remembered them and their search for a house.
This is just one example of how I try to show customers appreciation by remembering important things and building connections.

Daina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Adventurist Soap Co. was founded with a passion for adventure and a love for nature. Our founder, Daina, an avid hiker, and outdoors person noticed the lack of representation in the outdoors. So she started Adventurist to be the vehicle that drives passion for the outdoors while creating our soap line, designed to nourish the skin while also reducing its impact on the environment.
Our soaps are crafted using natural ingredients and biodegradable packaging, making them the perfect addition to any outdoor adventure. Whether you’re scaling mountains or camping by the river, our soaps are designed to leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
In addition to natural soaps, we also create other fantastic products like lip balm, lotion, body butter, bug spray, bath salts, and complimentary accessories.
Our company not only creates lifestyle products but also encourages outdoor exploration. We believe that getting outside and experiencing nature is essential for both physical and mental well-being. That’s why a portion of our profits goes towards supporting organizations that work to protect and preserve natural spaces.
We’re more than just a soap company, we’re a community of adventurers, nature lovers, and environmentally conscious individuals. Join us on our mission to promote outdoor exploration and leave a lighter footprint on the planet.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
Yes, we do manufacture our own products. By having control over the entire production process, from sourcing raw materials to packaging the finished product, we are able to ensure the highest quality standards and consistency in every product we offer.
I started by researching the production process and building relationships with suppliers who shared my commitment to sustainability and quality. After many months of planning and hard work, we finally launched Adventurist Soap Co.
It’s been a long and challenging journey, but I’m proud of what we’ve been able to achieve by manufacturing our own products. I believe that by taking control of our production process, we’ve been able to create products that are truly unique and offer exceptional value to our customers.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was the belief that success can only be achieved through intense competition and an “every man for himself” mentality. Early in my career, I thought that in order to succeed, I needed to constantly be one step ahead of others and outcompete them at every turn.
However, over time I realized that this approach was not only unsustainable, but it also created a negative and unproductive work environment. I learned that success can be achieved through collaboration, mutual support, and a focus on a shared goal.
I began to see the value in working with others, sharing knowledge and resources, and lifting each other up. This change in mindset allowed me to build stronger relationships with my colleagues, work more efficiently and effectively, and achieve greater success in my career.
Unlearning this lesson has been a process, but it’s one that has made a significant impact on my professional and personal life. I now understand that success is not a zero-sum game and that by lifting others up, I can lift myself up as well.
