Hi Daija, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?

When I first started doing nails, I did not know what I wanted to name my business. I went from “Dripped by D” to “Beauty Blinks & Nails” because I sold lashes at one point. Finally, once I decided to go to school for nails, I came up with “New Image Nail & Barber” the New Image part because no matter if your a man or woman, when you leave the barber chair or the nail chair, you always feel like a new person! You have a NEW IMAGE!!! It is so accurate and appealing. I love helping boost people self esteem because they feel fresh & beautiful

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I got into the industry by the push of my husband. I did my own nails for a while and then people started asking me to do theirs. I was never interested. One day my husband was like “Do it babe!” & I did. From the moment I started nails, it relaxed me. I eventually went to nail school and am now licensed. I just recently opened my salon where I have a barber station and a nail station. I am looking for another nail tech and maybe a hairstylist. Not sure what’s to come but I know it’ll be amazing.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

Truth be told, I am completely doing the opening a business process out of pocket. I did not apply for a business loan and sometimes I question myself on why? It’ll make the process even more bitter sweet knowing I did it all on my own with the help of my wonderful husband.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I never gave up. It would be some days nobody would not like or share my business post. I know my work is amazing so it always confused me. Some days are STILL better than others. Never give up. Use all social media platforms to market! Even if it’s funny little videos that’s off topic a little. Reel people in!
