We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dai Made. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dai below.
Alright, Dai thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I’m definitely happy as an artist and creative. I’m always thinking about what it would be like to be an artist full time. That’s the life I aspire to live, getting paid for being myself and living out my dreams. I feel like being a full artist would be a different type of hard work but at least it would be mine. Creating is liberation and it’s therapeutic. To be able to bring to fruition something you saw in your mind is beautiful within itself, so to solely do that for a living sounds like heaven. That’s what I desire & I will achieve it, I’m already on the journey.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So I got into the music industry as a way to cope through my life traumas. Even before being a recording artist, I used to write poetry as a way to express myself and relieve my pain. When I became a recording music artist, I, also, realized it was my purpose to not only speak on my pain but to provide sonderness to my audience as well. I know we all go through our own personal trauma and collective trauma and I know you can feel so alone and helpless in this world, I aspire to provide the feeling that you’re not alone and you can get through anything you go through. Music is so powerful and can be transformative subconsciously and consciously. My art is an example of what you grow through. My art is an example of transmuting pain into passion. My art is an example of acknowledging that there’s purpose in your path. Being 1/1 is what sets me apart, only I have my life experience to create what I see from that perspective. I have a vision, mindset, and ambition that allows me to be limitless within creativity and forever growing. I’m, also, really diverse and experimental. I want my supporters to know that I do care about them and their personal struggles as a humanitarian and a child of God. I offer my art as a hug, as motivation and inspiration, and empowerment to keep going and persevering to pursue your life aspirations. I feel like my music allows you to acknowledge your pain, feel your grief, and be uplifted and transformed by the end of the song. Search “Dai Made” on any music streaming platforms to experience your Dai Made, that’s my intentionality.
I would say I’m most proud of putting the art out. It took me two years from freestyling my first song to actually release it. I had to overcome perfectionism and the fear of being judged. I’ve always known I had a gift, but I was so in my head about what a song is supposed to sound like until I realized that’s my choice. Releasing the song empowered me and others. I want others to know that I’m just a vessel. We all feel the same emotions, I’m just courageous enough to say it out loud. I want yall to know I’m just like you, walking with God and letting go to grow.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I created @DaiMadeMusicc to reach anybody in the world. How privileged we are to connect with one another through phones and so quickly.
I built my audience on social media by connecting outside in real life with my audience. I’m performing in multiple cities and pouring my heart out on every stage. I’m speaking to the crowd and truly sharing a moment and experience that is felt and lasting. Social media is promoting what’s important to you. For me, the most important thing is for the audience to know my why. I started off my page by doing Q&A’s with my audience and stating my purpose, intentionality, and passion. I, then, began to post the music and how/why the song came about. Lastly, I started to post my performances and shows to show people what it’s like to be there.
My advice for building an online presence is to identify why and what you want. The how is the creative part but direction is more important than speed in my opinion. Who is your target audience? What are your goals for when you gain these supporters? What makes them want to watch your content & connect with you? Ask yourself the questions that matter to you & your brand. You can get into lyric videos, reels, skits, etc. whatever you want your content or niche to be, just think about it.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, what’s most rewarding is the final product. I say that because there’s so much that goes into making the art and so many things can get in the way of that including day to day life. When I finish creating and releasing the product to the world, it’s timeless. It’s so many songs I’ve worked on that haven’t seen the light of day that just might save my life or the next person’s. You never know what somebody else needs and if I’m a vessel, I can’t be slacking on what’s required. When I hear my song complete, it’s always beautiful because it could differ from the initial song I created. The studio is transformative and I shock myself with my talent still! As I listen to the final product, I’m growing and healing myself.
Honorable mention: When others tell me how my music moved them. Made them cry, made them reflect, made them feel empowered. To be felt, seen, and in service to others is powerful.
