We recently connected with Dagget and have shared our conversation below.
Dagget, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I first started Dagget Designs as a way to keep honing my artistic skills and stay in touch with my roots as an artist.
I was unfortunate to have some medical issues that stopped me from being able to tattoo on a “full time” basis. So after some time, i figured the best way to stay sharp and continue growing my skill, was to keep painting and illustrating. Staying motivated to do this was difficult at times, so teaching what I’d learnt and expressing my own experience in drawing and tattooing, really kept me consistently accountable in my practice and enabled me to create content that could connect with and help a lot of people. It felt good doing something that people really enjoyed and got something positive out of.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well for those who don’t know me, my name is Dagget and i’m the owner of Dagget Designs, a content based tattoo illustration brand based around my own style of tattoo illustration and also sharing knowledge.
I started out drawing and illustrating through learning to tattoo under my mentor and continue to build upon those skills by practicing my art diligently and following my inspirations closely.
I started Dagget Designs mainly as an outlet for my own illustrative work and due to this I still get requested for commission artworks and other projects fairly often. However my brand offers much more to other artists and beginners who are willing to learn what it is that I have to share.
Most of the products and services that I offer are aimed toward helping artists achieve their own artistic goals, whether that’s tattooing, illustrating or just learning a new skill.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building brand awareness on social media can certainly be a challenging game. I think these are a couple of essential points that I’ve learned from growing an audience online.
Consistency: set a schedule and show up each and every time. Sometimes life happens and this won’t always be possible, but it’s important to stay consistent and keep your audience growing and keen for more.
Quality: There is so much good quality content on the internet, its important to try your best to share your best quality work that you can, so you can stand out in the crowd. People are busy, so you wan’t to be sure you’re providing value!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe that the key to building a good reputation within your market is honesty and sincerity. We all know that you can smell a fraud from a mile away and its not a good smell.. I think being honest and sincere with your audience, clients and the people around you is the key to building a good reputation, word of mouth goes really far.
