We were lucky to catch up with Daeve Combs recently and have shared our conversation below.
Daeve, appreciate you joining us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? We’d love to hear the backstory the illustrates how you grew your brand.
Photography has been a lifelong passion of mine, and I’ve intentionally avoided formal education in the field, fearing it might stifle my creativity. Instead, I’ve allowed my craft to evolve organically, from capturing production stills in intimate settings to thriving in larger, more dynamic environments, always with a camera by my side.
I believe the most significant challenge I have encountered is being hindered by self-doubt. Although I am aware that my work is exceptional and impressive to some, I consistently feel that I can improve further. I recognize that I should not be overly critical of myself as an artist, but I fear that I may never attain the level of excellence required to garner long-term appreciation for my work.
But as I’ve worked alongside other artists and harnessed our collective creative genius, we rise above our deepest insecurities by communicating openly about each other’s expectations, yielding a breathtaking masterpiece that inspires all who experience it.

Daeve, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As I strive to make a meaningful impact, I’m driven by a vision that transcends my own limitations, fueled by a creative spark that I’ve harnessed to uplift not only my own spirit but also the lives of those I inspire.
It’s thanks to modern social media that keeps the dream going to continually strive for excellence. I know that sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming but at the end of the day, if I can make my client happy, then I’m fulfilled.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Every time I see my content being shared, it always fills my heart with joy and gratitude. I feel incredibly blessed that my work has such a profound impact on people’s lives, and it’s truly uplifting when my clients take the extra step to acknowledge my role in capturing their most precious moments.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The most incredible support system I’ve ever had since day one are my friends and family who have consistently lifted me up. I know I’m imperfect and flawed by my own mental health struggles, but thanks to their unwavering encouragement, I’ve been able to push past my limitations and achieve greatness.
