Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DaChri. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi DaChri, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
This project started out as an idea. Actually it started as an idea for others. I started as a songwriter pitching songs to other artists and for sync projects. I would go to several songwriting sessions in Nashville with various writers every week and create the best thing we could with the time we were given. After a couple months I had a handful of songs. Songs that I really gravitated to and resonated with. These songs would eventually launch my solo project. On the journey throughout I had to learn how to release songs, promote songs, re-learn how to put shows together, create merch, and all the things that build the brand and awareness.

DaChri, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a singer, songwriter and musician. I have been creating music since I was a teenager and I moved to Nashville 10 years ago. The most important thing I’ve learned in recent days has been that there is only 1 me and my story matters.
My most proud accomplishment is completing my 2021 mixtape “The Boy They Left Behind”. This was my first step into this new sound; which is a blend of pop, r&b, hip hop and alternative rock. It was a 17 song experiment to flex my songwriting and artist muscles. I also did 2 music videos for the project where I got my first glimpse into acting. This whole experience has been about stepping out and trying new things and pushing myself to higher heights.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of all this is when you have a live performance and you look out and people are singing the words to your songs. Songs you wrote in your room or your basement when you were alone. Songs that you wrote and never knew if they’d see the light of day. Songs that you never knew if you were going to share. The second thing that is tied with that is when people tell me that this song or that song is their favorite and it has impacted their life. I mean cause why else do we do what we do?

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
In my opinion too many are caught up in what others think. Comparison is the thief of joy. I feel like so many people live their day to day in comparison. My mission is to empower others to be themselves and live in that light fully. That along with dispelling this myth of timelines. I want to motivate people to continue to dream and push themselves into their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and beyond. They say most men die at 27, we just bury them at 72. I’ve never felt a statement more in my life. My brand is about rewriting those rules and making a statement. We can all dream a new dream. It’s not too late, it’s never too late. I also want to give people range. We’re going to dance together, cry together, seek depth within ourselves and ask hard questions. I don’t want to be a one trick pony with my sounds or with my lyrics.
