We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful D. Will. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with D. below.
D. , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Takings risk comes in hand with everyday living. I often find myself in a position to where I have to take a chance. No matter if it’s working a job, relationships, or just creating music in general. The direction of opportunity is what I rely on when it comes to taking chances. Therefore, the biggest risk I took was transferring what I went through with and outside of football to creating music and pushing it. I never knew the amount of friends and family that would gravitate by doing so, due to me having success with football. Hearing any type of feedback whether it’s constructive, positive or negative criticism motivates me to never give up. Creating is an outlet for me to speak on what I don’t speak about with others.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I created my first song my junior year in high school. After that it was GG. I knew it was in me but I had to see how I was going to switch crafts. I had to figure out that discipline is big dealing with getting yourself out there for the world to hear. Along the way, I’ve gained knowledge on how things operate and are calculated. It’s much more than just releasing music. You have to get outdoors and interact more than ever, you never know who you’ll run into.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My mind creates my resilience. I don’t let anything or anybody get to me. Pushing myself internally to do the so called “impossible” is what thrives me. Bouncing back from my loved ones getting shot and/or passing away has everything to do with the drive I have. Being an individual based off energy determines who I am as a person from being able to elaborate on topics such as pain or something positive but uplifting in a way.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
For the most part, my audience naturally came from who I know on a sport aspect. I started going through social media apps to create short ideas and videos in a form to promote my music. I had to engage in ways I thought I wouldn’t have to with others outdoors like calling/emailing radio stations and producers for a shot at more opportunity as well. With that being said, there are various ways I’ve lost out but you have to expect that and charge to the game sometimes. My advice to those trying to get theirs names out there is anybody can sell you a dream when they want something from you, but be patient and you’ll learn what not to do through experience.
