Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to D-Whit. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
D-Whit, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
As a DJ, I learned everything I know simply from paying attention. Watching and listening to other djs in the clubs or events. I also did a lot of studying on youtube of the traditional craft of DJing. The foundational skills were always important to me in any art so I chose to start from the beginning which included scratching, blending, and mixing. I never want to speed up any process because that’s how mistakes are made so I took my time. However, I am a fast learner. I had many obstacles coming up such as getting my equipment stolen but it only allowed me to come back harder. As far as photography and videography, I learned a lot of that from YouTube also. The family business is M.D. Whit Productions which is the initials of my sister, my name, and my brother’s nickname growing up is Whit. My sister started with media in high school and we pretty continued on afterwards. Unfortunately our first media projects were slideshows with music and photos for funerals (much love to all the ones we lost.). I also had my media equipment stolen TWICE! Thankfully we are still up and running.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Like I mentioned before, I’ve had equipment stolen from me 3 times. I could have easily quit and said I’m done but I chose to come back and go harder. One step back and three steps forward.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
I think NFTs are cool! I’m a huge Big K.R.I.T fan and I have a couple of his NFT coins. Eventually I will start selling some of my photography as NFTs to see how that may turn out.
