We caught up with the brilliant and insightful D Tenox a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
D , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
After all this years of work, now I can say that I’m making a full-time living out of my passion. Since day 1 I had to go through every step by myself, meaning a lot of challenges, emotions and difficult moments. I wanted everything instantly but I understood that there is a process and it never ends. Day by day I’m still growing and learning, always looking back a year from where I am helps me really see my progress, which encourages me to never decay. The fact of not wanting to work in another field rather than the music, pushed all the boundaries and helped me get to where I am right now. Starting this journey alone as a foreign without having a monthly income was a challenge to keep up with my personal and professional life. However, I have always believed in me even in the darkest moments, in the end there was always a light.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Daniel Tenorio, also know as “D Tenox” from Bogota, Colombia based in Miami, FL. I’m a music producer, graduated from Full Sail University, Orlando, FL. I’ve collaborated with the most important labels such as Warner Music, Sony Music, and Universal Music. I’m a producer that likes to do all type of genre, this is why from trap artists to pop artists reach out to me to write and produce for them. My most recent production was Danny Ocean’s “Dorito & Coca-Cola” feat. Tokischa, which had a global impact. Also one of my greatest achievements was working with the legendary band “Bacilos” which they made me part of the production of their lastest album “Abecedario.” Lately, I’ve been working with artists such as Anuel AA, Guaynaa, Mariah Angeliq, Lola Indigo and Fuego. I’m proud of my work and my growth as a producer in the industry that has put my name in a level of respect and professionalism.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I could have known more about how to behave in certain situations in the music business that might define your career.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One day I was invited to a random studio session that ended up changing my career, and this meant being in the studio with ten trap artists from Chile and the producer who know a days is one of my biggest friends and my working partner. Seeing him work he proved me a lot of things like how to handle that amount of artists in just one room and produce with them.
