We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful D Dave. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with D below.
D , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
Snpl Clothing was actually Birthed from a Merch design I had from being an Artist. Around 2010 I was being advised left nd right to have merch to sale at shows . So i designed a super regular D DAVE logo . the Logo was Centered on the chest area of a white T shirt . I was going for a simple but clean look like the Uber logo. When I dropped the pic of the logo my bro Duce Privi hit me like that would be dope on a shirt. Made me some mock Ups nd showed me how to get pre Sales. I sold out my first batch of shirts in 2 days . But I knew I wanted my brand to be bigger nd I thought it would be Narcissistic of me to use D Dave lol. So I thought of SNPL Clothing (STRUGGLE NOW PROSPER LATER )
The first design was The Swoosh SNPL logo , Then I did the NY Santa which I thought wouldve been a Hit but I was wrong lol. And after years of failed ideas i designed the Bulldog nd havent looked back since .
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my Journey as a Rap artist . I got a buzz from winning some of the major underground shows in NYC . i did a Lil acting in videos and web series. i also Produce Music as well as work behind the scenes marketing and promoting for artists who need help in said areas.
I also help brands with Merchandising and marketing .
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
So in 2018 i made the epic leap of faith and quit my job to be a full time entrepreneur . It was scary but made my creative juices jump into in hyper mode. when i dropped the bulldog hoodies they were an Instant Hit. But the world shut down due to covid 19 . for like 2 weeks I had to order all my materials and it was frustrating because items wasnt true to size or didnt arrive on time or arrived damaged , I searched around and located two warehouses in NJ that was operating at limited capacity . I hired a driver and we would get up 7am hit the road nd hit these warehouses everyday.. Through the Pandemic I was able to grow my brand and Sell over 1000 Hoodies .
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
PICTURES PICTURES AND MORE PICTURES . I grew my Brand on Social Media By posting Pictures of People in my brand Not just a bunch of Pictures of myself . But literally every customer i sold an Item To. And the best part was they would be sending me the pics because they wanna show they support. I then would post and hashtag its a #SNPLCLOTHING world and that helped me create a community and also helped my SEO rankings so I Can be more visible and searchable online.
