We recently connected with Cypress Willett and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cypress, thanks for joining us today. Owning a business isn’t always glamorous and so most business owners we’ve connected with have shared that on tough days they sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have just had a regular job instead of all the responsibility of running a business. Have you ever felt that way?
I am SO much happier as a business owner! But that doesn’t mean that I don’t still sometimes miss the regularity of a bimonthly paycheck! I love being my own boss and I love believing in what I do. I am not, at any time, forced to do something that I don’t believe can help my clients which is something I did have to do regularly while I still worked for a corporate hospital system. The downside of that freedom is that I don’t have anything to fall back on when business is slow. I don’t have a corporate budget for advertising. This can be scary at times and it sometimes makes me think about going back into working for someone else. But every time I think that, something happens to help me through my little crisis and I feel better. It feels like I am supported by the Universe…or whatever supports us through this life. Like I’m on the right track and I need to just keep going.

Cypress, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
It is my great desire and passion to facilitate profound healings and rituals in order to empower my clients to strengthen their intuition and connection to their highest Source. In my experience, this connection is a foundational part of healing. My specialties are intuitive shamanic bodywork, ritual facilitation and shamanic art. I broke into this field while I was still a nurse working in the emergency room. I always felt like something was missing in our western model of medical healing. No one ever talked about the underlying reasons people got sick or the emotional or spiritual ramifications of being ill or having had a trauma. It was like those things didn’t even exist in our western medical culture.
I believe that ignoring these is a pretty good way to never heal fully. Of course we need western medicine, but we also need a broader view of what is happening in our bodies, minds and souls.
Shamanic bodywork is a way to connect with our guides and use our intuition to find places in our bodies that have stagnant energy. It is this stagnation that causes illness in the body. By addressing the stagnation before it manifests into a physical problem, we take a proactive role in our own healing. Besides many different energy work modalities (my work is a combination of Shamanic bodywork, Reiki, Healing Touch and Primus energy healing), I also like to help people integrate their healings with a piece of custom shamanic art. I typically us stained glass as my medium of choice because of the healing effects of both light and color. After a session with a client, I journey to visualize a piece of art that will carry the medicine needed for that client to fully integrate the energy they need into their systems. I typically ask them to place it in a spot where they will see it regularly and be able to contemplate it’s meaning and medicine.
I am most proud of following my passions even though it was scary to leave my “golden handcuffs” (my corporate paycheck) behind. I am also proud to be able to facilitate people to be able to awaken their intuition the way I have been able to in my life.
I lived the beginning part of my life not feeling empowered to follow my intuition which lead to a lot of problems. I really hope to be able to help others not have to go through what I did as a younger person.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My best source for new clients is old clients. Word of mouth is key in my business and I love it when someone feels so empowered after their sessions that they want to tell everyone they know.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being a healer is an interesting thing. There are a lot of dynamics to navigate. Some people seek healers because they don’t know what to do and they are looking for someone else “fix” it. That’s totally normal in our society because that’s the way we are taught that it is in the western medical model. I believe we have more ability than that. I believe that out intuitions are spot on if we know how to listen to them and they will often guide us to do exactly what is necessary to heal ourselves. I encourage sovereignty in my clients which means that we navigate their issues together and I help them to get in touch with their own power and intuition. I think my clients really appreciate that I don’t just tell them what to do. We explore and heal together.
