We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cynthia Lin Maram-Wong a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cynthia Lin, appreciate you joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
Yes, I’ve absolutely possessed the ability to live & work in a creative environment and job full-time outside of a Full-Time and/or 9 to 5 schedule in an office atmosphere for over 10+ – 15+ years prior to COVID-19 and/or afterwards as well in the industries of fashion and filmmaking.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
In addition to acting and modeling, as well as providing production services as Executive Producer and Associate Producer–on occasion, for feature films and short films–I’m also a pr representative for directors and actors.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I possess tons of friends in the fashion and film industries, as well as am constantly in collaborative projects with various types of distinguished artists, and friends in the arts, including, but not limited to dancers, such as the LA Rams Cheerleaders and LA Laker Girls as a Coach on occasion, as well as possess high levels of expertise within the fields of choreography and sports medicine and physical therapy in the athletic spheres/arenas/for pro sports.
It’s very important to continue on ones educational journey and for those in a person’s family and friendship/mentorship group to be emotionally supportive, as well as financially helpful, sometimes, in circumstances when youth want to pursue their dreams.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Using my creativity and exercising my belief system of teamwork with our co-workers, fam and friendship groups and cohorts in the universities, artistic networks and film industries, as we are constantly in developments of new works and projects, movies, screenplays, video games, storyboards, paintings, sketches, pro sports, tournaments, etc. And I’m very involved in WTA tennis tournaments, as well as the NFL, and the NBA in terms of its cheerleading and dancers – in-training mode. I’ve been doing some dancing for the LA Rams lately and the LA Laker Girls as well over the years. It’s been a wild ride since high school at Both Cerritos High School in Los Angeles County and as a Foothill High School in Orange County, CA as a Junior and Senior transfer – the school in which I finished and graduate from and played on their Women’s Varsity Soccer Team, although I was an academic also and scouted for the FHS Track and Field by the Track Coach, I was fully committed as a center and right halfback on the Varsity team as we won CFI Championships.
Following high school, I attended college and university at UC Davis and UCLA. Both public schools were dn still are taught by Harvard University and Yale University Professors and I was Pre-Law and Pre-Med at both colleges. The universities are Public Ivy League schools with great track records in which I’ve taken courses in law, business, medicine and cinema,
I’m also a well established in my athletic career as an All-American athlete and academic. Both from and within the Cal State Universities, as well as from the University of California (UC Alumni Status – UCLA/UCDavis) systems! I upheld 4.0 G.P.A.+ and Beyond!!
