We were lucky to catch up with Cynthia Garnier recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cynthia , thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
When people think of legacy they refer to career, wealth, etc. For me, legacy isn’t just about what I have or will accomplish, but what I did with the time I was given and did I help change one life for the better. The fact is that many years after I’m gone, my name will be uttered one final time amongst my family and friends and then I’ll become a passing memory. When I draw my final breath, my heart will be content with knowing I was a resilient woman who persevered through every obstacle that came to destroy me and did it with a pure heart and a beautiful smile. A smile that I had to fight to get back from the monsters who tried to steal it. I have lived by certain principles: You can’t find peace and joy in others; Live your truth and be your most authentic self. I believe the true meaning of life is people and helping people, but remember that boundaries are necessary. I’d like to be remembered in the hearts of my family and friends as someone who inspired to be exceptional but understood the value of hardwork, although perfection is unattainable. Everyday I was intentional about being a better version of myself. When it’s time to meet my creator I hope he will say “you made me proud”.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been baking since I can remember. Yet, if you asked me 7 years ago if I wanted to do this professionally, I would’ve said no. Radiance Cake Artistry specializes in bespoke cupcakes and gourmet brownies. What sets my company apart is we use quality ingredients and unique flavors that you won’t commonly find, such as our “White Chocolate Cookies & Cream Brownie” or our “Seasonal Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake with Lemon Curd filling”. We do not make duplicates; we take inspiration from color schemes or picture ideas. My company prides itself in providing quality customer service throughout the time of ordering until a client’s first taste, as well as supplying show-stopping artistic pieces that add an extra special touch to someone’s event.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I’ve used several sources to attract new clients. But before I get into those sources, I started by identifying my ideal client. What industry (company type) are they in? Are they a single or coupled home? Where do they go – do they network or are they on social media? Networking is a great source. I always have business cards with me and drop them off at local businesses, or handing them out to prospective ideal clients. I also benefit from referrals from my returning clients. Google Business is another source and this is where knowing all the details about your ideal client comes in handy. And of course social media is a good way to market and attract new clients.

I started my company seven years ago. Many obstacles can occur that can either slow you down or bring you to a complete halt. One memory I have is in 2010 I was in the hospital every month because of health issues. I had to completely stop baking and focus on my health. However, once I was given a clean bill of health, I promised myself to make changes so my health would never get in the way of my dreams.
