Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cynthia Crouch, LMHC, CAP, EMDR, CSAT Candidate . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cynthia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
Starting my own practice and having it become established in the community takes a lot of hard work, determination and dedication. It all starts with a vision and a belief in yourself. I was able to rebuild my own life and have an incredible story of redemption, which has taught me if you can envision it, you can build it. The advise that I would give to other professionals who want to start their own practice is find a great life coach and mentor and go for it!
Cynthia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
People are my passion! I am a licensed mental health clinician, a mentor and a life coach. My theoretical orientation and approach are strongly rooted in understanding the impact of childhood on adult personality and mental health. I am passionate about exploring the innate drives that motivate behavior. I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I also believe that mental health and addictive disorders develop due to a combination of genetics and unhealthy patterns of behaviors that are passed down from generation to generation. My own recovery journey has taught me the importance of the therapeutic relationship. I believe it is an honor to be given the opportunity to hold a safe space for others where they can share feelings of guilt, shame, depression, anxiety and/or the deepest hurts that are causing emotional disruption in their life. It is always an honor when I get to be a part of someone’s story and help them build and reimagine a life beyond their wildest dreams. Everyone deserves a meaningful life. Everyone deserves to feel joy, peace, love, and have true balance in their lives.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I met my partner, Brian in 2019 while working within the field of addiction and behavioral health treatment at the Residential and Partial Hospitalization levels of care. He and I worked closely as a part of the same treatment team, we quickly realized that we were aligned in our approach to working with individuals and families struggling with addiction, trauma, and other mental health disorders. Brian and I connected over our passion for helping people find true freedom from addiction. He and I have a deep innate trust and respect for each other and the clinical work we each do.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing your clientele has been hands down delivering quality care with respect and compassion and by being an authentic and genuine woman. People need to be heard. People can feel it when you love what you do, and I do love helping and watching people grow and change. It is easy for me because who you see in your sessions is who I am across every area of my life, I am who I say I am and I live my life with integrity even when no one is looking. By doing these things I have been able to leave an imprint on others and people talk therefore word of mouth has played a tremendous part in growing our practice; social media has helped too!
