We recently connected with Cyn Lagos and have shared our conversation below.
Cyn, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
In my 5+ years in the creative industry, I’ve become a bit of a chameleon when it comes to my visual craft. Adaptable to my ever-changing environment, while equally bringing bold creativity into my visual expressions.
See, the thing is, it’s been my experience that the more skills I hold in my arsenal, the harder it becomes for the industry to know which aisle to place me in.
You might get hired as a designer but can’t touch the photography department, you are a photographer but forget about your curiosity for motion design… The structure of the industry can be stifling in the development of an artist’s fluid curiosity for other artistic crafts.
Well, stick to one, you say…
Niche work for some, but I find myself relentlessly learning new skills. Whether it’s in immersive technologies editing 360 video formats or sharpening my speaking skills in the ever-developing online education space with the likes of Skillshare and Adobe, I find that I thrive in evolution!
The industry standards can be a bit stubborn when it comes to coloring outside the lines, but it doesn’t have to be that way and luckily is not that way for all. If you’re a like-minded designer with chameleon characteristics, don’t lose faith, just remain aware of what works for you and don’t yield to the template.
Diversifying the roles in our industry can create a nurturing environment for a new wave of creators that find it thrilling to continuously transform our visual expression. Join the fun!

Cyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Teaching Design & Photography for me was a sort of “Aha” moment, it was the natural step in my determined focus on visual storytelling and an opportunity to hop aboard the industry’s evolution for online education.
Through partnerships with companies like Adobe and Skillshare, I have had the good fortune to inspire other creators like me on their way to their own summit!
One of my favorite opportunities for mentorship came to me through an Adobe partnership for Livestreaming on their Behance platform of 10 million members. Thrilled, I developed to date over 54 Livestreams lessons for an audience of international creatives who invest their time in self-education while connecting with our creative community. Every time, a room like no other, eager for knowledge and go-getter energy, needless to say, it has been a rewarding experience.
Now, working closely with the team at Skillshare.com, I’m continuing online mentorship on my upcoming course “Graphic Design for Photographers”.
This is an exciting new venture in my career and I am very grateful for the support of the teams behind some of my most beloved brands and the creative audiences that keep up with me for all the wild new roads I take on!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
The years 2020-2022 have been tough on some of us, most of us, all of us — e v e r y o n e.
That said, I am an unyielding glass-half-full-kinda-human. I’ll take a guess that resilience and creativity have taken a great part in your journey as of late. It has been no different for me, finding new roads to explore in the world of online education arrived in my path as a result of our limited stay-at-home regulations.
That time wasn’t spent idle; among nurturing my mind and belly, I found myself nurturing my relationships with brands I firmly believed in. Skillshare and Adobe have been great companions in my self-education for video and Livestream productions from the comfort (and now tech-savvy) space in my studio.
I am proud of the progress I’ve made in the sight of trouble. After all, in design school, we were taught to see a “problem” with the potential to flourish into creative expressions. And that’s what we’ve done my friends. I say “we” because I am certain you’ve found a way to nurture yourself and flourish an expression of your own making too.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yea for sure! My mission is to work closely with creatives on demystifying the starting line, the obstacle course, and the muscle required to keep up a pace.
