We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cybele Shana Lerman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cybele Shana, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
I began learning and studying Reiki, Energy Healing, Crystals and other metaphysical modalities about 20 years before I actually started my professional practice. I had always dreamt of having a practice where I combined all of these modalities and got to treat clients professionally and help them with holistic ways of healing and staying healthy. So by the time I actually quit my 9 to 5 job in 2018 I was so ready. I had gotten burnt out on working for other people, sitting behind a computer in a dark windowless room full time. I was ready to embody the entrepreneur inside of me that was dying to come out!
It took some time, and I started slowly, but over time my professional practice as an Energy Medicine Practitioner began to build. Immediately after I quit my 9 to 5 I took some time off. Some time to relax, and just BE. We have often been programmed to DO, be productive get things accomplished, hustle and stay busy. I realized I needed a break from that and I gave that gift to myself. I enjoyed the summer time in California where I was currently living, spent time with my teenage daughter, and took my Reiki Master Level course as well as received my Professional Life Coach Certificate.
I slowly started practicing on friends and family, old and new acquaintances. I was magically introduced to the right people at the right times. I began seeing clients for sessions at a local crystal shop, and eventually rented an office where I could see clients in a private setting. My practice grew through word of mouth and referrals, as well as internet searches by clients for energy healing practitioners. Eventually I stepped into a teaching role as a Reiki Master and taught classes to others, training them on how to do what I do.
Establishing my own professional practice has definitely been a journey of self-confidence, self-worth and empowerment, as well as trusting in the divine plan. I find that having trust and faith is very important as a self-employed business owner. Business tends to go up and down in waves and I have to step out of my Ego and let go of any fear or worry in the down times, as well as staying out of stress in the busy times. If I can do that I know I am always being provided for and that my business will continue to thrive in it’s own unique way!

Cybele Shana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I provide transformational energy healing and coaching sessions to my clients that can include Reiki, Chakra Clearing & Balancing, Energetic Cord Cutting, Animal Reiki, Intuitive Readings and Life Coaching. I am an Ordained Minister as well. I also teach Reiki and other classes and enjoy leading workshops, and hosting spiritual events. I offer Distance/Remote Energy Healing sessions for clients around the world.
My style is soothing, peaceful, and calm. My goal for the people I serve is for them to release and let go of anything that is not serving their highest and best good. As I assist them with this, I then aim to reawaken their natural feeling of true empowerment and self-confidence. I pride myself on making people feel comfortable and creating the best environment possible for their natural and innate healing to occur.
I have seen so much amazing transformation and growth in my consistent clients and the students who take my classes. It is such a joy and pleasure to see their progress and the positive results of our work together!

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
No I definitely would not choose something different. I love what I do and I know I am doing the work I wasborn to do! it feels wonderful and amazing to see the success of my clients and students as they progress on their journeys and I am so grateful for each and every person that I get to help through my business and professional practice.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I can honestly say, hands-on experience is the most helpful. In the line of work I do, one really needs that practice and experience with friends, family, loved ones, clients, event participants and students to see how it feels to work with others practicing or teaching energy healing and coaching. As you practice and get that experience, your confidence builds as well as your intuition. You start to develop your own style and get more assured of your abilities as a healing facilitator for others.
