Crystel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope to leave people with a bit of magic in their hearts, love for the mystery, and appreciation for the Love & beauty—both in nature and within our souls. I aspire to touch the core of every human I encounter or who encounters my art, leaving them with a sense of wonder and openness to the mystical and inner realms.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Although I had studied mathematics and physics before attending university, I envisioned my life pursuing a career involving either numbers or art. Ultimately, I chose art and design because I recognized its ability to keep the flame within me ignited, while design and animation keeps my left brain stimulated. Art enriches life, infusing it with sweetness. The act of working with materials, crafting something entirely new, delving into my inner realms to retrieve creativity, sharing these creations, and connecting with others who resonate with similar emotions and thoughts through visual symbols—all of this profoundly enriches my existence.
Moreover, what brings immense fulfillment is observing my own growth in craftsmanship. Reflecting on the progress I’ve made over time is deeply rewarding. Equally gratifying is when someone gazes upon one of my paintings and remarks, “I’ve experienced this vision before!” This recognition not only validates my artistic journey but also fosters a profound sense of connection and understanding between myself and others.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I firmly believe that creativity is inherent in all of us—it’s simply a matter of how much attention and nurturing we dedicate to this aspect of ourselves. Many individuals impose limitations on their creative potential due to a lack of encouragement rather than a lack of innate talent. I’ve witnessed friends who had never picked up a paintbrush before engage in painting sessions with me, and many continued to pursue this newfound interest on their own, albeit not as frequently.
Somewhere along the way, we’ve transformed art into an elite activity, whereas historically, it has been an integral part of every tribe’s rituals. Expressing oneself through movement, dance, singing, drawing, poetry, or music used to be collective endeavors, free from the fear of judgment or feeling like an imposter. Ultimately, humans inherently require outlets for self-expression, and art serves as a powerful tool for genuine expression.
Personally, I’ve grappled with identifying myself as an artist, influenced by the prevailing norms of the art world. However, I now urge everyone to reconnect with their innate creativity and reclaim their inner artist. Let’s dissolve the barriers that society has erected around art and embrace it as a universal means of authentic expression.
