Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Crystal Letters and Rescue Poetix. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Crystal and Rescue Poetix, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the most meaningful projects to us was creating OpenRoad Poetry. We originally met in 2019 while working on a separate project, and we got to know each other as artists. We shared a similar mission to contribute artistically to society, social justice, and our visions align on uplifting the rarely celebrated aspects or contributions of art.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, we were able to work with artists virtually as people began to isolate themselves. We later transcended our online events to physical events once the lockdown had ended and were able to collaborate and support organizations from around the United States.
All of our projects have been meaningful in building community in uplifting artist and their works, and professional artists’ skills.

Crystal and Rescue Poetix, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
Instead of elevating art, it locks down boundaries and parameters on the type of art an artist can create that would serve as a NFT. Art is meant to be about connection, NFT’s to us, feel very superficial and take away from being able to make a connection between the artist and the viewer.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
OpenRoad Poetry as a collaborative partnership is and has always been about being able to pivot. OpenRoad Poetry has worked throughout all the Wards of Jersey City to increase the reach of the arts throughout Jersey City.
