We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Crystal Petry a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Crystal, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is ” To educate people willing to receive education and knowledge. To teach people willing to learn. And to learn from people willing to teach.” This is my mission in every aspect of my company because I am a firm believer that if people receive the correct information they will make better decisions in life, work and social. In a social media age, people can get information at the end of their fingertips, but is it the correct information. I have created a safe space that will give people the correct information and hopefully this information will lead them to make better choices.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
The name of my company is Crystal Petry Consulting. I got into this industry because before I was officially registered, I was helping so many people. Then after several years, I decided to bet on myself. I was in a space in my life where I could open my own business and give it everything I have to make it successful and bring qualified people along with me. As a consultant, I am an grant researcher/writer, I am a formal event planner and I host a podcast named, “60 Minutes W/…” I love writing and researching grants, I really enjoy the whole process. The event planning allows for my creative juices to flow and my podcast allows for me to meet people I would probably never meet and it allows for me to be a constant learner. I am proud and excited about every aspect of my business. My brand is an excited brand and an educational brand. I am currently accepting new clients, please contact me via my website https://www.capetryllc.com

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
For my business whether that is grant writing or even my podcast, the best source of new clients is referral from my previous clients. Positive word of mouth is still the best form of advertising. My previous clients enjoyed the way I conduct my business, my professionalism, and the joy they experience with me. It is because of these things and more that my clients happily refer me to their friends, family and coworkers.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first started my consulting business, I was offering about 10-12 different services. This is a lot!! I had to take a look at the services I was offering and the quality of each of those services. I reduced those services down to an amount that I could comfortably handle and give my all to my clients. It took me about a year to see that I needed to pivot, and when I did my business flourished!
