Crystal, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I decided to bet on myself June 2021. I quit my state job and took a leap of faith to start my own business. This has always been a dream of mine, I just didn’t know how it would manifest in my life. I knew I wanted to help people but never thought I had the skillsets to accomplish my dream. In February 2021 an old colleague of mine had started his business and immediately I saw his pain points. I reached out to him and said hey I think you are struggling in these areas here is what you need to do to fix them. So he replied and said I need you to help me run my business. I spoke with my husband and we agreed now was my opportunity to start my consultant firm because if he had these problems there were others out there that had the same issue. From that moment C. Moses Consulting has been on a mission to connect with entrepreneurs who were scaling and needed a strategic partner and additional support through the process.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into this business through divine intervention. God allowed me to see a problem and he provided me with the solution to help a friend out. I’ve been in Human Resources for 9 years serving in different operational capacities. We offer: Recruitment Services, Virtual Assisting, Payroll Setup and Processing, Organizational Development, Policy and Handbook Creation Here are the problems I solve:
1. Recruitment Services
Talent Acquisition: You help companies find and hire the right candidates for their open positions, solving the problem of talent shortages and mismatches between job requirements and candidate skills.
Streamlining Hiring Process: You can optimize the hiring process to make it more efficient and less time-consuming, addressing inefficiencies in sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.
2. Virtual Assisting
Administrative Support: You provide businesses with administrative and clerical support, solving the problem of overburdened staff and allowing companies to focus on core activities.
Cost Reduction: Virtual assistants can be a more cost-effective solution compared to hiring full-time employees, addressing budget constraints.
3. Payroll Setup and Processing
Compliance with Regulations: You ensure that businesses are compliant with local and federal payroll regulations, solving the problem of potential legal issues and penalties.
Efficiency in Payroll Management: By setting up and processing payroll, you address the challenges of payroll accuracy, timely payments, and tax withholdings, ensuring a smooth payroll process.
4. Organizational Development
Improving Organizational Efficiency: You work on developing and implementing strategies to improve an organization’s efficiency, culture, and employee engagement, solving problems related to low productivity and poor workplace morale.
Change Management: You assist businesses in navigating through changes, whether they are due to growth, restructuring, or external factors, thereby solving the problems associated with managing change effectively.
5. Policy and Handbook Creation
Establishing Clear Guidelines: You help in creating clear, comprehensive policies and handbooks that outline expectations, procedures, and ethics, addressing the problem of ambiguity and inconsistencies in workplace practices.
Legal Compliance and Risk Management: By ensuring policies are up-to-date with current laws and regulations, you mitigate the risk of legal issues and foster a safe, compliant work environment.
I am proud that I get to work with an array of people from different industries and walks of life and help them make their dreams come true.
I want people to know that we are relational firm not a transactional firm. We focus on our clients goals and find creative ways to help them achieve them.
Have you ever had to pivot?
After my first year of business, I realized that I couldn’t provide a laundry list of service and I couldn’t be all things to everyone. I started networking with others in my industry so they could assist me with larger projects. Then I changed my services to only things I love to do, not just things I knew how to do. Make this change cut down on my stress levels and changed my quality of life. Before I made the shift I worked 7 days a week. I never told a client no, The quality time that I spent with my family was them watching me take a phone call every 15 minutes when I should have been talking to them.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Given the nature of what I do. My most effective strategy has been to listen to what my clients pain points and find a solution. When I meet new people I try to give them a safe space to be who they are and share how they feel unapologetically. Most clients I work with need a sounding board and someone who genuinely cares about what they have going on.
