We recently connected with Crystal Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Crystal , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In order to be successful in the beauty industry you have to remain focused. Consistency is key. You have to work hard on your level or service. Try to make each clients lash experience great and relaxing as possible.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Crystal always had an interest in the beauty industry. She started as a young lady applying lash strips on her mother, sister, friends, and herself. She enjoyed lashing and helping women feel confident and beautiful.
In December 2017 she completed a one-on-one Classic demonstration course at Pretty Lash Bar. Where she received a classic application certification. After lashing part time for three years, she realized that lashing was her passion. She remained consistent before committing to obtain a lash specialty license.
In June 2020 she enrolled in I Beauty Academy to complete 320 credit hours to receive her lash specialty license. This is necessary to make lashing a career in the beauty industry In the State of Texas. She continued to work in Corporate America full-time while lashing part time and attending school. In December 2021 she resigned from her full-time job, stepped out on faith, and started lashing full time.
Two years later in March 2022 Lemons to Lashes established its on location. She opened her own Lash Studio in Dallas Texas. Where she currently works on brows and eyelash extensions.
Her goal is to continue to uplift women and make them feel beautiful. With her lash demonstrations, her goal is to share the knowledge with others. Helping motivate women, moms, sisters, cousins, and friends become a lash-preneur. For ongoing mentorship my contact information is listed below.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I worked in Corporate America was a mortgage loan analyst while building my business & brand. I put at least $250 per paycheck to invest in school cost, supplies, & marketing.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
My side hustle turned into my main source of income when my father was diagnosed with cancer. Schedule flexibility to be able to transport and sit in with my father during treatments. Was a mandatory goal for me.
I tried to level out working full time, intermitted FMLA leave, & running a business. However, it was way too much for me to juggle. So I resigned and started being a full-time lash artist.
