Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Crystal Elyse . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Crystal, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
Yes and No. I sometimes wish that I went to Art school and started my career in college, but I am a total believer in letting God be in control. I started drawing when I was probably 10, my dad was a fantastic artist, so I would see some of his paintings and remember wanting to be a good artist like him. In high school, I was in all art classes and didn’t think my art was that good, so I never wanted to pursue it in college; plus, “Could my artwork pay my bills? In college, I was in Biology, working in the healthcare field. I didn’t start back painting until COVID. My first painting was my sunflower, and I gravitated towards art pour. My first art pour was not to my liking, so when I posted it on Instagram, I had a fantastic lady that bought my painting, which helped my confidence, so I practiced more and got good at my paintings. I started going to vending events, putting my artwork on swimsuits, shirts, duffle bags, water bottles, and t-shirts. Everything happens in God’s timing. The only thing I would have changed is having confidence at an earlier age.
Crystal, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started getting into the industry by going to events and being inspired to have more creative things; I challenge myself with every painting and new idea because the galaxy is the limit. I asked God to be my CEO, and he gives me creative ideas and inspiration. I started going to vending events and showing my artwork, and then I gradually started getting into swimsuits and other ideas. Discipline can be pretty challenging because I am a full-time worker and mother. I had to start working on my craft every day to get better at my craft. Sometimes, I have to force myself to paint or finish a project because I can get into a mood. Self-discipline can be challenging, but it has to be done. I have a lot of products, such as t-shirts, swimsuits, totes, duffle bags, water bottles, kids shirts, and kids affirmation handwriting workbooks. What sets me apart is the loving energy I put into every creative idea: my personality, my energy, creativity .I am most proud of showing up for myself and giving myself a chance. I’m proud that I finally let go and really give every creative idea my all. I use to be so unsure and not confident in my paintings, but I finally started to believe in myself. I would always question my art or feel like no one would like it, but you will get that 1 like. I love that I can put my personality on a canvas.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to be fully creative. I can put my personality on a canvas. I an able to fully be myself unapologetically.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I want to create generational wealth, that is my goal. I want my family to be fully taken care. I want to be a well known artist. I want my art business to go viral.
