So, for those of the readers that do not know me, my name is Crystal Armstrong. I go by Crys for short. Chris is my second given name, and Crystal is my chosen name. I chose this name in order to remind myself daily that I am here to embody a higher evolution of man.
I dedicate myself to the evolution of the modern man. I believe that we as men have been running on an old model of masculinity for too long. We have been taught that to be a man is to be disconnected from our emotions, our body, and our intuition. We have been taught the the only thing of value is our mind, our capacity to think logically and rationally, however this life is not purely rational. We have been taught that to be heart-centered is to be weak. It has become clear to me and many others that this model of masculinity is not working, just look at the state of the world and we can see it has failed us.
What’s worse is now so many men are being taught that masculinity is toxic, causing them to become overly feminine. So many of us have run away from true masculinity because we have been taught to fear it. The anger, violence, and control we often confuse for Masculine energy is an exaggeration of certain principles that many of us were never taught. The purely financial success at the cost of joy, health, and freedom is not what being a man is about, and it’s time to evolve.
I teach other men how to tap into these characteristics within themselves. I help them by providing structure, guidance, wisdom, so they can create their own definition of what it means to be a successful man. We need a new understanding of Masculine, and I am here to support those few that are ready to stand up and lead, to be role-models for others and show them what a Heart-Centered Man can be.
I chose to dedicate myself to this work because I found myself so many times at rock bottom, my life falling apart at the seams.
Countless times I have experienced massive burnout in my work, severe drug addictions, including cocaine, alcohol, psychedelics, and cannabis, and difficulties with addictive behaviors around relationships and sex. It seemed like every few years I would go through a collapse, achieving some sort of success as determined by the industry that I worked in, only to throw it all away by getting fired, quitting, or just deciding to set everything in my life on fire and move to a whole other city or country. I spent most of my adult life dedicating myself to food and drink. I worked for 20 years in the restaurant and hotel business, serving people high-quality experiences, high-quality gastronomic experiences, eventually becoming certified as a sommelier, becoming extremely skilled at serving, tasting, and pairing wine with a variety of dishes and experiences.
In 2019, after experiencing divorce, personal injuries, and periods of depression and anxiety, I came to find the practice of Transcendental Meditation, which created enough space in my busy mind for me to recognize that I needed to reimagine my relationship with alcohol. In 2019, I committed to taking a year away from alcohol, but within a matter of months, I had been fired from my job as a wine salesman and told by my business partners in our wine import business that they could no longer justify paying me. From there, I followed my intuition and traveled through Mexico and Guatemala, learning a great deal about a handful of spiritual traditions, including the ancient Mayan wisdom held in their calendars, ceremonies, and oral traditions. I received a lot more intuitive hits about focusing my efforts on working with men, but I myself didn’t enjoy being around men.
Generally speaking, I avoided working with men, because for most of my life, men were untrustworthy, uninteresting, or aggressive and judgmental. I felt myself much more at peace in the presence of women, though my friendships and relationships with women always turned into anger, frustration, and heartbreak because I didn’t know how to show up as a strong, balanced man.
Though I have transformed myself countless times on this journey, I never did it very well, always readily willing to set everything that I knew on fire, but never actually utilizing the ashes left behind in order to fertilize projects that I desired to create because ultimately they required focus, commitment, dedication, and self-mastery, which all felt to me like a trap.
My primary focus as a transformation coach is to support men going through or desiring major life transformations, men who no longer want to live the way that they have been living and want to create something new by giving them by providing them with proven tools for releasing emotional baggage, limiting beliefs, and creating and the effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction while giving them the support structure and guidance necessary to take action and have a clear vision about what it is that they desire so they can ultimately become a greater version of themselves.
The clients that I work with one-to-one have a variety of different desires and focuses whether on improving or changing their career, building businesses, improving their relationship with themselves, their mental and emotional states, as well as men who are desiring to heal their relationship with a spouse or significant other or who are ready to call in their true life partner going forward.
Few men are willing to make such drastic changes. Many are stuck in fear and anxiety, however, those that do choose to evolve will be the first to reap the rewards as leaders in their communities.
I also support men by helping them to get back in touch with the child that lies within them. We have been so disconnected from our joy and playfulness, and it shows up in the stressful lives that we all live. I help men to recover their playful selves so that they can
We get to the root of these issues easily and effortlessly so that they can let them go, create a compelling vision of where they want to go, and start to take action and continue to focus their energy on those goals. So many men are lacking structure and consistency and discipline, potentially because even the word discipline itself has multiple meanings, one of which means to be punished for not following the rule or law of someone else. I teach men how to change their words, how to change their thinking that will in a way better support them in the creation and manifestation of the life of their desires and dreams. I also collaborate with other men to provide experiences that teach men the lessons that we were not given as children, lessons of collaboration, trust, community building, emotional expression, authenticity, vulnerability, and self-mastery.
These in-person experiences range from guided breathing exercises, to physical combat exercises, to hiking and exploration of the natural world. So many of us have been so disconnected from our nature as humans, and especially as men, that it can be quite difficult for us to even sit or squat or move in the ways that our bodies were designed for, because we have become such domesticated animals instead of the free humans that we were designed to be.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

What is a lesson that I learned that I needed to unlearn, and what’s the back story? I recently had to unlearn a lesson that taught me that success hurts. I carried this belief in my unconscious mind that success was something that causes pain. And I never was able to put two and two together until having the opportunity to go through a Mental and Emotional Release® breakthrough session, which is the primary tool that I use in my work helping men to go through major life transformations.
It’s often said that you can’t take anyone where you’re not willing to go yourself. Once it became clear that I had learned this lesson, even though it is wholly untrue, on a conscious level, I desired success, but I never seemed to be able to manifest it to be creative for myself. I could see in retrospect that I had learned this lesson in a variety of ways. As a child, I was…
Growing up as a child, my father was very successful in his work. He was a high executive in a company in Phoenix, Arizona, and he was regularly said to be quite successful. I heard that message as a child, and so I equated his actions with essentially the recipe for success. I learned that working extremely long hours was important on the path to success.
My father worked over 60 hours a week, spending the majority of his time both at work and As a child, I didn’t really know what he was doing, but from my perspective, what I was witnessing was somebody who was regularly uncomfortable, stressed out, and seemingly in some sort of pain. My father would never say that he was in pain, but I could see that he was quite stressed, and children being quite sensitive before they get taught to numb and disconnect from their own emotions. So from my perspective, I saw this very successful man who seemed to be regularly in pain, and so I learned the lesson that success hurts. I also followed his model and later worked extremely long hours, but because in my unconscious mind I believed that success hurts, I never actually created financial success.
Occasionally I would receive promotions, working my way up to different levels of management. However I even recall at one time taking a job promotion that took my pay from around $70,000 per year down to about $50,000 per year because I had traded in a full-time tip-earning job as a banquet captain and traded it in for a full-time plus banquet manager job at a nice hotel in Seattle that had me working more and earning less money, albeit consistently. This was a perfect example of how in my model of the world, success was a painful thing, and so anytime I stepped into a new degree of success, it was generally matched with some equal degree of pain. In order for me to actually move towards true success in my work and my life, I would need to release this lesson, to release this limiting belief.
That’s where the Mental and Emotional Release® technique works because through a simple visualization process I can use my conscious mind to speak to my unconscious mind and instruct it to let go of this belief so that I can follow a better model, one that would help contribute to greater levels of professional financial success. The unconscious mind is fascinating because it is entirely receptive and it will receive anything that it hears regularly enough or anything that it practices consistently, just as we learn through repetition. And unless we choose to change the programming in our unconscious mind, we will ultimately replay old stories and old patterns on an endless loop. Releasing this limiting belief is only the first step on the path to change, comma, I have clear goals for what my success looks like that I focus on daily and power up with the energy of my own emotions of excitement, joy, gratitude, and so on.
Also I take regular inspired action while maintaining a clear focus on what it is that I desire so that any challenges that come along the path will not distract me, they will teach me and empower me to get better along the way.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
# Transcript
Was there ever a time when I needed to make a pivot in my business? Aside from the first big pivot that I made when I shifted out of the restaurant business and into my work as a coach and guide, I found the biggest pivot for me that led to more focus and success was when I started to work specifically with men. From 2020 until 2022. I was open to working with anyone who was on some sort of a path toward coming into a greater sense of wholeness.
I was offering a variety of services, all focused on helping people to become more knowledgeable about themselves, to increase more self-awareness, while also helping them to release anything in their mental and emotional states that were preventing them from being who they really wanted to be. Most of my clients at the beginning were women. I feel to many women, the idea of working with a man was generally a bit uncomfortable, especially because many women have experienced so much trauma at the hands of men. My compassionate nature and my ability to empathize and create safe and comfortable environments for open and honest communication helped women to feel much more at ease.
One of the biggest challenges that I found in that work was that so many times I couldn’t speak to what it is like to live in a female human body. I didn’t have the experience of feminine hormone cycles. My brain is wired differently, the chemicals flowing through my system are in different balances, and so ultimately I could only give a woman so much perspective. Though many women can benefit from a more masculine approach in specific situations in their life, I found that women really need to have better guidance from a woman who is more embodied in her own feminine energy and her own balance between masculine and feminine energies.
I have spent over 30 years in a male human body, which means that I can only have a perspective from this side of the line, and though each of us has masculine and feminine energies, I felt that the way that I could best be of service was to focus my efforts on men. This was initially quite challenging because I had my own difficulties around working with men. Generally speaking, I felt far more comfortable around women because I never really connected with men in the way that our modern culture teaches us to do so. For example, I don’t watch any major sporting events or follow any sports leagues.
I never enjoyed going out to hit on women with a group of men, and now that I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t socialize with men or anyone in places like bars where a lot of men feel more comfortable to open up and be more expressive. That being said, I had received so much guidance from my intuition and from the universe at shift my focus into working with men. I experienced a lot of resistance at first, however, as I started to put myself out there with this new focus, I found I started to attract men to me that had been through similar experiences as I have been through. Unfortunately, in this modern world, it is extremely common for men to experience addictions, to have co-dependent and traumatic relationships, to experience PTSD, and to have extreme difficulty in expressing themselves, especially emotionally.
I found that when I was working with these men, I could really support them by revealing to them my own struggles with these issues and even give them a greater perspective about what has served me in this process. After about a year and a half, I found myself needing to pivot once again because I had made the mistake of thinking that I could simply share with other men what had worked for me during my process of healing, such as breaking free of the spell of alcohol or learning how to communicate more authentically. I wasn’t seeing the results that I wanted to see with my clients, but I didn’t know exactly how to shift my practice until on my own healing journey, I ended up attending a class on NLP, or Neuro Linguistic Programming, a method or technique that I had learned only a tiny bit about through my experience with, or rather through listening to and learning about Tony Robbins and his path toward success. I had hit yet another point of deep depression after a breakup in 2022, landing once again at my parents’ doorstep seeking support after going through a miscarriage with a partner and a subsequent separation.
After becoming certified as a Master Practitioner of NLP and a few other techniques, I decided I realized that my toolkit was improperly equipped. I had a lot of very curious and esoteric tools that worked for me in certain ways, such as ancient Mayan astrology, crystal healing, energy healing, meditation, and a variety of movement practices. However, I lacked a really clear tool that allowed me to emotional baggage that was preventing them from actually seeing where they want to go and from taking action in order to get there. I invested a great deal of money in continuing my education.
However, I avoided the traditional Western educational systems and chose to focus on this somewhat alternative but also incredibly effective tool for reprogramming the unconscious mind. With a simple technique called Mental and Emotional Release®, I was able to release my own traumatic and emotional baggage around my last relationship and the miscarriage I experienced, as well as other major life events. Other major traumatic life events that had stacked so much emotional weight on me that I could barely breathe.
