We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cryssel Ramirez . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cryssel below.
Alright, Cryssel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
I’m the happiest person alive as a business owner! It makes me eager to know more about it. Which lead me to enrolling in school again to learn more about the business industry.
Even though I own a business, I still obtain 2 more regular jobs in the healthcare industry and I love it. I love the idea of helping people and making them feel good.
Sometimes I do go back and think about the retail jobs I had in the past where I worked about 5 years in, and I hated it! My only favorite part about it, was sitting down a client and doing their makeup! But through that experience, I learned how I can be a better leader to my team.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Cryssel Ramirez and I’m a Beauty Educator and a Small Business Owner of CRYSSELMAKEUP. My brand offers beauty products such as brushes, blushes, lashes and beauty accessories. I also offer makeup lessons one on one or group sessions.
I love to help clients better their makeup skills on themselves. I’m working on opening my own beauty school where I want to teach all the things I was never taught that I think are important. Many new artists are usually lost when they get out in the field and I want to help those people be prepared for the beauty industry.
What I’m most proud of is commencing my business on my own. Doing everything myself from designing my own logo to coming up with my own ideas to connect with clients, still educating myself to better my skills as well. I’m very proud of myself for trying so hard not to compare myself to other small businesses. We are all unique in our own way.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
2020 was a pivotal year for me, marked by a devastating personal loss: the custody of my children. As a business owner, my kids had been an integral part of my journey, and their absence sent me into a downward spiral. Despite my best efforts to maintain a facade of normalcy, I struggled to cope with the emotional pain.
I sank into a deep depression, losing touch with my identity and sense of purpose. However, in my darkest moments, I found solace in my faith. Through fervent prayer, I slowly regained confidence, hope, and the courage to rebuild.
This transformative experience sparked a newfound determination within me. I vowed to rise above my adversity, not just for myself, but for my children. I poured my energy into personal growth, pursuing further education and working tirelessly to revitalize my business.
Today, I stand as a testament to resilience and determination. My journey has taught me that even in the midst of turmoil, there is always hope for renewal and redemption.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I only saw it as a hobby. At the time, I already had a full time job and I was satisfied with it. But as soon as I started gaining more clients, it became a side hustle then it turned into my career. I still maintain “regular” jobs for personal reasons but I give it my all 100% of my time. I’m working hard to make it my full time career and eventually expand all over the world.
