We recently connected with Cristina Gonzalez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cristina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
Wedding trends come and go throughout the years, some make a comeback while others remain a classic for a reason. Throughout the years, we have seen an increase in hyper-personalization of each element. Nowadays is not only a matter of having your custom vows, or favorite colors on your big day. As event planners and designers, we spend more time getting to know our couples, what moves them, what their style is and how we can incorporate it into every single element on their wedding day. From selecting floral that reminds them of their childhood home, to adding a dessert they shared on their first date, we make sure every detail counts. As for their ceremony, more and more couples come from different backgrounds, cultures and religions so we honor this and work with an amazing team to intertwine their traditions and customs.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Cristina has always had a love for weddings and events. A foodie for excellence, after getting her bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts/Business, she spent over a year working at a five-star five-diamond resort in Southern California and she was immediately attracted to the wedding magic. After going back home to Mexico and having worked in a booming hospitality organization, she had to go with her gut and follow her dream in pursuing a career in the wedding industry.
With many hospitality certifications under her belt (Meeting & Events Catering Professional, Wedding Coordinator & Design by The International School of Hospitality and Certified Guest Service Professional by AHLA) many overseas and out of state couple sought her for her expertise while planning their destination wedding to create the ultimate wedding experience.
As the owner and lead planner of Simply Weddings the leading brand for weddings in the city of Las Vegas she constantly is in collaboration with the city’s top creative teams and venues.
In past years Cristina has served in her local Las Vegas Wedding International Professionals Association Chapter Board of Directors as Secretary and Membership Director and currently serves as Director of Education.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Truly caring about our couples. We understand the importance of a wedding and how the addition of its details impact our couple and their guests in such a big moment in their lives. Taking the time to listen to their needs and wants and going the extra mile later transfers to great costumer service, happy clients/families who then recommend us. Venues and other creatives shine and it becomes a virtuous cycle.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The entire world faced COVID and it’s challenges differently. In the wedding world it was no difference. There were many unknowns and constant change. Starting 2020 I was my first year as a sole owner and to say it was difficult was an understatement; however my determination was stronger than ever. We had to stay on top of the different guidelines, communicating with the teams as much as we could and pivot. We came out on the other side stronger than ever and business have bloomed ever since.
