Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Crissy Conner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Crissy, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
In 2016, I had an intense fear of being on video (also as an introvert I never had a desire to be the center of attention). Despite my desire to be behind the scenes and make others look good, I struggled with being on camera, frequently saying “um” and losing my train of thought. I even developed hives and blinked my eyes excessively when on video.
My fear of being judged by others, especially those I deemed to be smarter than me, held me back. In my first business, I allowed my fear to hinder my success, and although my best friend submitted us to everything where we would have more opportunities, I legit prayed every night to not be selected…I was so in love with my comfort zone back then.
When I started my second business in 2016, I realized that I needed to make a change in order to prevent history from repeating itself. I had already gained a solid client base (thank you referrals), but I struggled to sell passive products like memberships due to my lack of visibility. In reality, no one knew who I was. I had to get over my fear of being on video in order to promote my business. I was petrified of video, afraid of what others would say about me and think, I had horrible hives that crept up my neck and it was a very uncomfortable feeling to someone who had no desire to be the center of attention.
At first, I tried to pre-record videos, but found that editing was difficult and time-consuming. I turned to live videos as a way to force myself to confront my fear. I used a trick to keep the videos private and only for myself to see, but eventually realized that this was not an effective strategy and it was cheating.
I ultimately overcame my fear of being on video and began doing live videos for all to see. I was willing to make mistakes and show my imperfections, rather than trying to be perfect. I even went live and shared my jello shot recipe video… which I admit was a terrible video, but at the time it was honestly really good for what I had put out up until that point. I still keep the video on my page as a reminder of how far I’ve come.
By facing my fear and being willing to be vulnerable on video, I was able to grow my business and gain more visibility. I went from being obscure to being someone that people knew and trusted. My story serves as an inspiration for others who struggle with the fear of being on camera and shows that it is possible to overcome this fear and achieve success, even as an introvert.
Since that time I’ve created crazy challenges for myself, 100 live videos in 30 days, 200 live videos in 30 days, 365 days of uncomfortable actions and pushing myself to get uncomfortable because getting uncomfortable changed my life…
I used to say video changed my life, but getting uncomfortable and taking a risk…that changed my life, getting on video changed my business.

Crissy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In 2012, I co-founded a skincare business with my best friend, which we bootstrapped from the ground up. Although we made many mistakes, I learned how to effectively market our business on social media and grow it. When we eventually decided to close our business, I had many friends who approached me for marketing help. They struggled with social media and marketing, and although I felt uncertain about my own abilities, I realized that I had more knowledge and experience than they did.
Over the course of a year, I began taking courses and learning as much as I could to improve my marketing skills, since most of my clients were requesting help with social media and marketing. I quickly found myself overwhelmed with done-for-you social media clients, working up to 80 hours per week. Although I appeared successful on the surface, I was completely exhausted and my health was suffering.
I knew that I needed to make a change. As an introvert, it was a struggle to become more visible, but I overcame my fears and started creating programs. About a year later, I launched my first program, which I taught live every month, and it sold out multiple times. In 2019, I transitioned it to an evergreen model.
By 2020, my business had hit multiple six figures, and I finally felt like I had “made it.” In 2021, I created my first mastermind, called The Visible Inner Circle, to help entrepreneurs grow their businesses through effective marketing, visibility, lead generation strategies, and more. This was the beginning of living the life that I had always envisioned for myself. I took eight vacations, still working on some of them, but I also reduced my workweek to just 30 hours. I finally broke free from the desk life and was living my best life.
During this time, I let go of many of my clients and created a new program called OMNI VIP, which gives entrepreneurs access to all of my micro mastery programs, as well as the option to purchase each monthly program a la carte. I noticed that many entrepreneurs were just going through the motions of marketing, without really understanding how to create raving fans and offers. I also realized that many entrepreneurs were allowing their businesses to run them, rather than taking control and running their businesses.
My mission is to support women service providers in being seen and heard, and to help them break free from the desk life to live their best lives. I solve the problem of business growth by addressing all of the factors that contribute to success, including visibility, marketing, content, certainty, overcoming limiting beliefs, brand awareness, and more.
I am most proud of the fact that I didn’t quit, even when the journey was difficult. I’m proud that I take big risks even when I’m not ready and when I’m afraid. As a CEO, it’s easy to tell ourselves limiting stories, but it’s up to us to change that narrative. Being a business owner is an enormous personal growth journey because everything that we have ignored in the past, we can no longer ignore if we want to succeed. Our businesses will never outgrow us, so we must continue to grow alongside them.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
One summer in my business, I was struggling to achieve the results I wanted, and my revenue seemed out of my control. Feeling frustrated, I decided to set a challenge for myself that I knew I could control: going live on different platforms 100 times in 30 days. It was a daunting task, but I was determined to make it happen. I called it “100 Lives in July”.
During that month, I pushed myself to go live on any and every platform I could, and I ended up exceeding my goal with 115 lives. However, when August came around, I saw no results from my efforts, and I was about to give up. That’s when I reached out to my mentor and shared my frustration. While she didn’t give me any groundbreaking advice, she asked questions that prompted me to take action.
It wasn’t until three week into September, after our conversation, that I realized the impact of my “100 Lives in July” challenge. I had generated $13k in revenue, and I was shocked. My mentor’s words about “tapping in” resonated with me, and I realized that the videos I had made were working for me, but I hadn’t given them enough time to show results.
Since then, “100 Lives in July” has become an annual tradition that I renamed “Changing Lives in July”. Every year, I set a new challenge for myself and my community, whether it’s doing 200 lives in July or taking 100 uncomfortable actions. We also use this time to support a pediatric nonprofit called NC4K and raise money for their cause. By challenging ourselves to step out of our comfort zones, we not only change our own lives, but we also help others in need.
I learned that the more consistent we plant seeds, the more consistently we can reap the harvest. You don’t need to do 100 videos in a month but consistency does matter in business. The question is…are you willing to do something without instant gratification?

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I have embraced two key strategies to establish my social media presence: visibility and video. Moreover, I am not just consistent – I post every single day without fail, which sets me apart from those who stick to a more casual schedule of posting three or five times per week.
Initially, I struggled with the idea of appearing on video, but I made a conscious effort to overcome my fear and incorporate video content into my social media strategy. As I have progressed, I have honed my content, improved my teaching style, and increased the value I offer through my mini-masterclass style videos.
While most entrepreneurs enjoy easy, pre-made content to post, our audiences crave genuine, authentic, and relatable content to consume. And on top of that sharing content can be challenging for many of us, as we often seek instant validation and proof that our efforts are paying off. However, I have developed a framework that has not only expanded my audience but also transformed many of my followers into raving fans.
Rather than waiting for immediate results, I recognized the importance of consistent, high-quality content that resonates with my audience. By doing so, I have grown my following and expanded my client base. I even abandoned a 10K+ Instagram account that I had established in 2017 in favor of a more aligned audience and started over in a new account.
In summary, my advice is to prioritize visibility, consistency, and passionate content creation. Don’t just post for the sake of it – aim to create raving fans who are excited about you and what you offer.
