Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to CREVLO. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
CREVLO, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
It all began one Christmas night in 2014 when I unwrapped a Novation Keyboard 49 paired with a version of Ableton Live. As someone deeply passionate about music from a young age, I found myself face to face with the power to create the very melodies I’d always dreamed of.
Initially, the sight of the software was daunting! I couldn’t make heads or tails of it! Nevertheless, I dove in, tinkering with the program in an attempt to recreate beats reminiscent of “A Tribe Called Quest” and venturing into the realm of electronic dance music à la Deadmau5. My learning process was simple: experiment, make mistakes, and try again until the outcome met my satisfaction.
Being inherently curious and scientifically inclined, I approached these trials with a sense of playfulness. I never saw them as mistakes but rather as opportunities to learn and grow. The underlying principle was clear: love what you do or find a way to love it, and everything will flow more smoothly and joyfully. Choice, after all, is our greatest power.
I refused to rush the process; each experiment was essential to my journey. These experiences, both triumphs, and setbacks, have shaped me into the artist I am today. A journey I find truly beautiful.
Reflecting on essential skills, adaptability and fluidity come to mind. When faced with a challenge, being flexible and open-minded opens up a myriad of solutions. More often than not, the biggest obstacles were my own emotions and doubts—frustration at a song not sounding quite right, or the nagging voice of uncertainty. Yet, by learning to acknowledge and release these emotions, I found freedom in expressing myself through my art.
In the end, it’s not just about the music, it’s about the journey, the growth, and the resilience to overcome obstacles, both internal and external. And that, to me, is the true essence of artistry!

CREVLO, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The greatest satisfaction as a creative individual lies in the freedom to express myself authentically. I have the liberty to convey my emotions, share meaningful messages that resonate with me, and potentially touch others. In certain instances, my creations have the power to uplift someone’s spirits and brighten their day.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I love to read, so here are two books that changed my perspective on the problems we face in our lives:
“Be Water, My Friend: The Teachings of Bruce Lee” by Shannon Lee
“Daughter of the Dragon” delves deep into Bruce’s philosophy and dissects his ideologies with precision. It teaches us to embody the fluidity of water when encountering life’s challenges and encourages self-mastery. This book has truly been life-changing for me.
“The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment” by Eckhart Tolle
This book delves into the concept of time and the reality we inhabit. It enlightens us on the significance of the present moment, where everything truly exists. After reading this book, my perspective on how to live has been profoundly altered.
