We were lucky to catch up with Coyytheboyy A recently and have shared our conversation below.
CoyyTheBoyy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to be a creative/artist when I first watched impactful and wonderful artists such as Michael Jackson, Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Beyoncé, Rihanna and so many more. I was just a kid looking at how MJ would show off his dance moves and the energy he brought to the stage was something crazy!! Listening to Nicki in 2009 when I was in middle school rapping those hard bars over sick beats! She is still dominating till this day and it makes me happy because I grew up with her. So it’s different now seeing her be at the top of the food chain eating! Watching the award shows, tv interviews, tour performances and the connection we have through music is on another level!

CoyyTheBoyy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Coy or also known as CoyyTheBoyy on all platforms! My favorite color is RED! I’m from Cleveland, Ohio, born and raised here. Thankful to have both parents in my life even though we are all hard working. Schedules may get in the way of things but we find the time to gather. I love to create! Whether it’s music, custom beaded jewelry, or even having conversations. Just being in rooms with other creatives is one of the best things. I’m also starting a YouTube channel in 2025 which I’m very excited about. I got into the industry all on my own! In 2023, I decided to release my music on all platforms to get my name out there and to be heard. Music is a connection from the brain to the soul. So when people can relate to you it’s a better feel. It’s like you’re getting to know someone through just listening to them. The problems I feel like I solve for some people are that they don’t have a voice! What I mean by this is, I’m a vessel. I might not be the biggest, baddest of them all, but you are definitely going to feel me. I do this not just for myself but for those around me. Sometimes you have to speak up even if others feel like you shouldn’t. You have to be in control of your own narratives. Don’t allow someone to falsify something about you and not clear it up. The main takeout I want people to know and understand is that, it’s okay to be you. You have to be yourself if you want to get somewhere. What sets me apart from other people is… MY ENERGY and PERSONALITY! A lot of people don’t have that nowadays because they are following a trend. But you can be trendy and still be you. So many people get lost in being something that their not or something that they “wanna be”. But most of the time it just comes off as plagiarism. But for me I took what I saw and put it into my own creativity. As far as my brand goes I want to be worldwide and to show that if I can do it, so can you! Have the passion and work ethic to put forth so others can see you mean business.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
As a society we tend to like what’s trendy! But honestly what’s trendy isn’t going to last! There’s always a new trend, something new everyday if we’re being honest. So trends really don’t last as long as they used to. But as a society I believe that if we showcase real talent and real art, people will appreciate it more and value it. That’s why a lot of creatives tend to take a step back from being creative because there’s not enough support. If we come together we can make much more of an impact than you might think!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
The way I built my audience to get to listen to my music or even interacting with me was first do something to catch their attention. And for me, that was my hair colors and finger waves. Also with using my personality I used to go live on Instagram and do Live Poetry Nights on Fridays. I had the best time doing those because I got hear other like-minds and ideas they had for what they wanted to do. On those lives we also did freestyle Fridays when some artists would come and give us a couple bars. My advice to new influencers, artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs coming into the game is to BE YOURSELF!! I can’t stress it enough. Always go with your first mind and gut feeling. There are so many scammers and scams that want to take what you have and use it for their own good and not pour into you. Make your own wave and impact so nobody can say that you’re copying them or stealing their style!! It has happened to me with people taking things from me… even lyrics! But always continue to be yourself, enjoy yourself, and dont hold back
