Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Coyote Coleman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Coyote, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Halloween has always captured my heart ever since I was a child yet my infatuation and devotion to the holiday only grows. Each year in October I release a mixtape/beat tape in honor of the spooky season and as an artist, it allows me to create without limitations and let my imagination run wild. What makes this year’s “Beats for Halloween” the most meaningful is all the setbacks I faced and yet to me these are the best beats I’ve made ever. Earlier this year my computer crashed with the music project I was working on it while I was going through a break up. Devastating was the news to me that all the music programs that I was used to were outdated and I would have to learn all new music programs. I thought this year would go without a Halloween mixtape. All these setbacks only made me focus harder and harness all this energy into my craft and not only do I love my new music programs, I believe this year I’ve made the best Halloween music there’s been in a while. Happy Halloween.
Coyote, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Coyote Coleman born and raised in Las Vegas Nevada, I’m just a dirty desert kid who makes alternative hip-hop, rap, and R&B. Each instrument is played live by me throughout all the beats I produce, I don’t loop anything and I combine that with my singing, raping and songwriting which I’ve been working on since I was 12 years old. Growing up on cheesy love songs had me writing songs for all the girls in my high school even complete strangers. My music is submerged in spirituality and personal growth brought on by heartbreak and being scorned from chasing lustful temptations. I’m in the thick of this jungle called Las Vegas so of course there’s themes of me battling with sobriety as well. Because most of my songs use live instruments and mainly acoustic guitar, I feel I make refreshing lighthearted hip-hop with meaning; That sounds pretentious. Desperately, I’m also trying to become the “queen of Halloween” or something because each year I release a mixtape/beat tape in honor of Halloween that samples, all of my favorite Halloween specials and movies. To me There’s no cool Halloween music and I want to change that. That’s a fun tradition I’m proud I can keep alive and keep watching my art progress. My my music is a refreshing alternative to all the rap and R&B and hip-hop that’s on the market today. My goal is to help people have a good time and maybe dance a little. I’m gonna make music for the rest of my life there’s just something that’s possessing me and if my art can touch someone in a positive way and make their life a little better then my life has more meaning than I could ever have hoped for. And as for the name coyote it’s because where my ex used to live there used to be coyote warnings and that is really just like me I’m cute and cuddly, but you gotta watch out.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Like all artists the ability to be able to live comfortably just off creating your art and doing what you wanna do is definitely an ultimate goal. Personally, I have dreams of expanding my recording company retiring my parents and being a financial support for all my family bringing us all closer together. Also, I have the most fun and feel the most fulfilled when I feel myself progressing at making music and I just wanna make music at the highest possible level. Growing up, I never got to travel and still have only been out of Las Vegas three times so being able to travel the country and eventually the world because of my art is such a blessing.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a musical artist, is feeling myself progress and knowing the rate at which I’m progressing at doing the one thing I love doing the most. There’s a state where everything just flows and the words just come to me it’s heaven, and listening back to a lyric and wondering where it came from is such a magical feeling.
