We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Courtnie Kidd. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Courtnie below.
Courtnie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
I manage my own social for now but in the future I will be looking for an intern to help out.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I love making art! Originally, I am from Atlanta, and I got into this business about 4 years ago since I am a very creative person and needed an outlet from my 9 to 5 which is in technical design work. My creations are mostly resin pieces with floral preservation but I also do woodworking, 3d printing and furniture design as well. Most of my skills I learned by teaching myself but I learned woodworking at a makerspace in the Midwest where I lived briefly. SEDA VII was created to sell custom pieces for events like weddings, birthday parties, graduations, anniversaries, etc.
Working with my clients to design something beautiful and unique is my favorite part of interacting with my customers, whether it’s for a gift, party favor, or just something for themselves to cherish as a beautiful keepsake It makes me very proud to be able to have a wide range of creations, and I am very passionate about creating one-of-a-kind products. Thus, I have something for everyone. I want people to know they can message me or email or book a design consultation on my website and we can come up with a great concept and design for your purchase!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I build my audience by posting often and engaging genuinely with my followers. I would say do not buy followers, you want to build an organic following.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
Yes, all of my products are handmade. Sometimes people think I am a reseller but that is not the case. I do create some items that are identical, like the 3d printed m asks, but for the resin work and other creations I like to make them one of a kind or customized for a specific client. When I do weddings/ events some of the resin items can be duplicated like center pieces or name tags/ party favors for each guest.
