Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Courtney Woods. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Courtney, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

Our website and promotional design agency was created to help businesses, non-profits, and other organizations that are struggling to establish or maintain their brand online. We’ve been on a mission to help business minds and creative entrepreneurs become multi-faceted, successfully operating multiple brands and streams of income online with ease since 2015. Over the years, we’ve expanded our focus to highlight the significance of first designing a solid foundation to grow on and then structuring content for best results and digital overflow.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I took an internship my senior year at the University of Alabama at Birmingham at Cahaba Media Group which sparked my interest in website design. They were switching to a new website platform and had me moving their content from the old platform to the new platform. I remember thinking, “It’s so cool how you can just log in to the backend of a website to customize it and move things around.” I started playing around with different website platforms at home and that’s when I said to myself, “I want to help people get their business online and design their world online.” Fast forward to today, 12 years later, PC Media Techs is the go-to trusted design agency for bringing visions to life online and taking brands to the next dimension!

Have you ever had to pivot?

I consulted with a business advisor who helps minority businesses in America reach economic prosperity by preparing them to expand and compete globally. They advised me to change my then business name ProFRESHional Creations to PC Media. They mentioned that my then business name did not showcase my company’s full skillset. They went on to explain that when public and private sectors review requests for proposals from companies like mine, they are looking to select and work with companies that can provide all-in-one solutions, like a one-stop shop. I understood what they were saying and decided to change our name to PC Media Techs for this reason initially. Secondly, I also thought about the spelling and the length of my then business name and remember saying, “The new name, website, and email addresses will be much easier to communicate verbally.” Lastly, I had visions of the company transforming to be more of a collective and the name PC Media Techs with the “s” on the end was just more inclusive. It put me in the mind of “Geek Squad,” which is the name of Best Buys’ in-store, virtual, and in-home installation and tech support. We were truly growing as a company, and I could see where we were headed more clearly now.

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
