Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Courtney Ripoll. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Courtney, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success is a concept that is different for every person. Whether it means having a great career, a home, or a family, success is something everyone strives to achieve. It makes you feel proud, it gives you excitement and it lets you know you have made an impact on the world. Success is not something you attain without putting in the effort, however. It is a mindset you must adopt to accomplish your goals and grow as a person, and it takes hard work.

Courtney, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Courtney Ripoll. I got into the photography business about 9 years ago. It started as a hobby when I was a child. I have always loved taking pictures. The name of my business is Epiphany Photography. Epiphany provides senior portraits, events, family portraits, etc. It takes a lot of patience and hard work to run a business, I think what sets me apart from other photographers is branding. Your brand speaks to who you are, what you do, and what values you hold dear. And that identity, that personality that you develop, has a direct impact on how potential customers view you and feel about you. So, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve got an established photography business that needs a refresh, one of the first things you should do is evaluate how you promote your brand. What’s your calling card? Are you approachable? Fun? Passionate? Reliable? I am most proud of the fact that I built my own business from the ground up. And the main thing I want my clients to know I appreciate them for supporting me. It’s a pleasure working with my clients as it brings a lot of valuable feedback to the company. Thank you!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Your first step should be working within your local community. These are people who know you. You are just down the street from them. There are businesses of all types in your community that can probably use your work, so create a plan for how to get in front of them. The more you are seen, the more people in your community will notice you and start to think about working with you. Whether it’s local events, business events, fundraisers, you name it, you should make the point to be there, particularly at first. This is the way to create new relationships and to spread your reach.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Before developing social media strategy, you should examine the channels your company is currently using, underutilizing, or completely ignoring. If your company’s brand is only on Facebook, but all the action is on Twitter, the first step toward online success is determining where your efforts are best spent. Similarly, if your brand is relatively active on Instagram and receiving good but not great engagement, you know where to focus and engage in your efforts in a more targeted manner.
