Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Courtney Prejean. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Courtney, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When naming Coyote Brands, I wanted a business name that represented the entrepreneurs that dig in their heels and adapt to the ever-changing small business landscape. Coyotes find their strength in community, can adapt to their surroundings quiclkly, and are resourceful. Their scrappy nature is what every entrepreneur needs to make their dreams a reality. During the same time I created Coyote Brands, we had just purchased twelve wooded and wild acres of land to create our little homestead full of gardens and space for our kids to roam. Our first year was marked with coyotes howling night after night in the woods and even though I worried about our chickens, I loved the wild sounds of living here. Coyote Brands just feels right for both my life and to represent the clients I work with every month.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was a professional photographer for nearly a decade and fell in love with the backend business side of photography that most small business owners loathe – social media, websites, blogging, copywriting, and making my business as streamlined as possible.
At the end of my full time photography career when we sold our home that included my studio, I had already started helping other photographers update their websites and coaching them on marketing themselves, so it was such a natural move into building Coyote Brands!
My favorite part about Coyote Brands is that we make it a one-stop-shop that includes copywriting and search engine optimization on the websites we work on! We start with a beautiful Showit template and make all the necessary design changes to fit our client’s brand and services without the costs that come with fully custom websites.
Each client has a different brand voice, vision, and vibe and I love creating websites that will actually represent their skill in a way that tells the world that they’re deserving of the rates that they charge for their services – it’s such an important deciding factor when potential clients are browsing multiple small businesses trying to decide who will be the right fit for them.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
My biggest and best source of new clients has always been and probably will always be my favorite – referrals. Having clients send their friends and family to me is a compliment that can’t be beat. I always tell my clients that there are so many ways to grow their business: ads, websites, social media, features… but the most powerful way to build your clientele will always be by referral.
When those referrals come through my website, I know that after hearing ‘Coyote Brands,’ they probably went straight to the site to look around and confirm that I would be who they need, so having a place online that they can vet me and read reviews, see my portfolio, and read all about my services is key to continue to have those clients book with me!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The biggest reward of being a creative in the marketing industry is the results my clients see after we work together. I’ve had clients reach out that they booked their highest package right after their website launch, had aligned clients reach out to them and tell them they are exactly who the client was looking for (thank you website copy!), and that they’ve started to show up on Google when they struggled to rank, before.
I love that I can perform services that they don’t have the mental space or time to do themselves – taking a huge project off of their plate and handing them back a turn-key site so that they can continue to serve their own clients 100% gives me all the feels – especially when my clients feel like they had to do minimal work to get there.
