Courtney, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

Tomboy Turban has made turban wearing easier for not only me, but also my supporters. Its so important that each turban is created to adjust to the many changes of our hair. You can enjoy the full coverage our turbans provide from the stretchy material that applies coverage to most hair styles: natural hair, braid protective styles and locs. Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Sewing has always been one of my many hobbies, and during the beginning of the COVID pandemic it gave me time to tap back into those creative outlets. Initially, I was creating turbans just for myself, and versatility was a big part of the design. My biggest questions were: “can I continue to wear the same turban through out my hair journey, style changes and year round?” After sewing the first turban that problem was solved: it has stretch to securely protect my hair no matter the style, easy to twist, breathable, lightweight, soft against the head and ears (preventing tension headaches), several styling options, everyday wear and it can be dressed up or down. I realized I couldn’t be the only one wishing for a easier solution for hair days! Although, the turban was initially just for me to enjoy – I’m glad to have decided to share the easy twist turban with all my supporters. It definitely continues to solve my problems, and after reading all the many reviews and comments I’m glad it’s been beneficial to others needs outside my own!

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.

Currently, all turbans and headbands are handmade and sewn by me.

How did you build your audience on social media?

It’s important to continuously show the benefits of Tomboy Turban products. As a e-commerce business customers aren’t able to get the full in person experience with the turbans and headbands. Photos and most importantly videos can provide the necessary information and answer a lot of the customers concerns. Some of Tomboy Turbans social media topics consist of: twisting tutorials, hair changes with the turbans, customer reviews/videos and etc. It’s also great receiving videos of all our customers twisting their turbans in ways you never thought and being able to repost. Building the Tomboy Turban community created a safe space to learn twisting styles for all hair needs!
