We recently connected with Courtney Luna and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Courtney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to help spread the word about the carnivore diet. So many people are metabolically unhealthy or have autoimmune issues and I just want people to know that this is an option. If you have any sort aches and pains, acne, anxiety and depression, that you need to get to the root of the issue, which is the fuel you are putting in your body.
Courtney, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the carnivore diet because I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I would wake up feeling exhausted and lethargic, I had no energy to keep up with my kids, I was 70 lbs overweight, had gut issues, acne and horrible anxiety and depression. I was willing to try anything, even giving up veggies which seemed crazy at the time.
Now I share my journey on social media hoping to inspire and help others who already eat this way or would like to get started. I share what I eat in a day, what my family eats, creative recipes, meal ideas, grocery hauls and what it’s like to live a carnivore lifestyle while homeschooling my kids. I also have a cookbook available for presale, that will be published in October 2024, to help keep this way of eating creative and sustainable.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have showed up on social media for years sharing my low carb and keto recipes, however not many people seemed to care. It wasn’t until I started documenting my journey with carnivore that people had something to say. Eating this was goes against the grain and people are beside themselves when they see that I don’t eat any plants, only meat and animal products. That is really when the growth started. I also had no idea that it would happen. I only followed one influencer at the time that I started so I didn’t realize the response I would get. I’m constantly being told I have an eating disorder or will get clogged arteries or have a heart attack. Truth be told, my lab work is fantastic and this is the best I ever felt. My advice to anyone starting social media is to document your journey. Don’t go out of your way to create content specifically for social media, document what you’re already doing. Be yourself, share your story, and it doesn’t hurt to be a little controversial.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I get hundreds of comments a day, across all the platforms, that are rude and negative. Even though sometimes it may hurt to read, I will never let them stop me from sharing my message. This is my story, and my mission, and I will continue to shout it from the rooftops. I will never let the haters win by silencing me.
