We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Courtney Hughes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Courtney below.
Courtney, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success can be defined as accomplishing a purpose but I would take it a step further and accomplishing your purpose. I think that what it takes to be successful is to truly be grounded in Christ and a relationship with God. I believe that when you know God he’ll direct your path and guide you to success.
Courtney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve always had a passion for uplifting and building community amongst women and a year ago I really discovered my purpose through spending intimate time with God. Through rediscovering myself in Christ I discovered my purpose to help women rediscover themselves as well and become the best versions of themselves. I have built an online faith-based community for women called Ignite Sisterhood where we work together to become the women we’ve always dreamt of becoming. I am also a certified life-coach and thoroughly enjoy the work I do as a coach. I coach women to operating in their fullest potential, facing their fears, and living the life that God has created for them.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
A book I believe anyone should read is Outwitting the Devil by Napoleon Hill. This book transformed the way I think completely. In this book Hill interviews the devil and gains an understanding of all the ways he keeps people from reaching success.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I am currently pivoting and learning what that looks like for me. I am expecting a baby girl in July and of course having a baby changes things drastically in your life. Right now I am coaching myself to rediscover what my life, career, and business will look like as a mother. Although, initially this was all very scary being a first-time mom but I chose to see the beauty in it! Being a mom is giving me an opportunity to become even more of a better version of myself.
