We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Courtney Hollingsworth. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Courtney below.
Alright, Courtney thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
When it comes to what it takes to being successful (for me) it’s like a never-ending list. You’re always brainstorming on what you can do to be better. For me being successful takes being creative, staying organized (keeping business records, etc), being consistent, providing the BEST customer service, and understanding or analyzing all competitors.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
Today I’m currently expanding my hair and hair care line. I started a business by the name of Glam Xten Collection, LLC. (GXC) in 2018. My hair brand is inspired to promote beauty on the inside and outside and it also symbolizes my character and who I am as I continue to evolve today. I began as an artist in high school at a young age entering and winning art contests. Then, I started getting into makeup my 11th grade year through college. I took my talents and started coloring hair and wigs which led to the creation of GXC. With my passion and expertise, I’ve met so many beautiful celebrities along my journey in providing hair and wigs to well-known figures such as Jekalyn Carr, Kiyomi Leslie, Salma Slims, and WETV star, Alana Thompson AKA Honey Boo Boo to name a few…wonderful women. In conclusion, ALL women should feel great about themselves or have that confidence in being able to wear lashes, cosmetics or any hair/wigs of their choice. These are all AMAZING items of quality in which you can find shopping with Glam Xten Collection.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I started my business with only $1000. This is money I saved up while employed at Walmart as a customer service associate. From there, God has definitely been my CEO and guidance through any and all obstacles.
Do you sell on your site, or do you use a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc?
Yes. Glam Xten Collection is an online retail bouquet for now. We also have a store on Amazon, and Walmart. Both companies reached out to us in interest with mainly our hair care products (kids’ hair care line included), and hot tools to name a few. These are both amazing companies that we enjoy working with.
