We recently connected with Courtney Green and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, thanks for joining us today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
What Did My Parents Do Right?
My Mississippi-born parents, married for over twenty years, raised not just their own children but an entire generation of kids they encouraged through college and into their dreams. They divorced when I was ten, later remarried, and even after life took them in different directions, they remained close friends until the very end.
My mother, born in the fifties with grit, fire, and sass, was a go-getter in every sense. A registered nurse with a big caring heart, she showed me what resilience looked like — even in the face of personal struggles. Her battle with addiction and our time apart weren’t the end of our relationship; they were a refining fire. Our love grew stronger through honesty, forgiveness, and grace. She taught me that strength isn’t the absence of hardship — it’s how you stand back up after being knocked down.
My father, a bit younger than my mom, grew up in the country with very little, a basketball star whose life lessons reached far beyond the court. He instilled in us the importance of saving money, keeping your word, and trusting God above all else.
Together, they taught me perseverance, faith, and the unshakable value of family. When my own world fell apart, I had a soft landing to come home to — a place full of love, truth, and unwavering support. That foundation has shaped every part of who I am today.

Courtney, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
About Me & My Brand
I’m Courtney Green — a proud Mississippi-born, Kansas-raised, and now Alabama-rooted woman of faith, resilience, and unapologetic determination. I’m the founder of This Is It by CG, a multi-faceted brand where style, storytelling, and strategy meet. My work spans jewelry retail, professional writing services, and women’s empowerment, but the heart of everything I do is the same: helping people elevate their life, their look, and their legacy.
I began my journey in the jewelry industry during the pandemic, reselling wholesale pieces online to support a friend’s business. That side hustle quickly turned into a platform where women could find affordable style that felt like self-expression. Over time, my brand grew to include This Is It – Writing Services, where I craft resumes, bios, and business content that help clients present themselves with confidence and credibility.
What sets me apart isn’t just what I sell — it’s the way I serve. My clients don’t just walk away with a product; they leave with clarity, confidence, and a sense of empowerment. Whether I’m helping someone choose the perfect statement necklace, land their dream job through a polished resume, or guiding women through my Surviving Sisterhood events, I’m creating experiences that affirm identity and inspire action.
I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built in my community. People know I’ll tell the truth, work with integrity, and push them to see possibilities beyond their comfort zone. My brand isn’t about quick wins — it’s about building connections and results that last.
If there’s one thing I want potential clients and followers to know, it’s this: This Is It isn’t just a business name — it’s a declaration. This is your moment. This is your story. This is where you show up fully as yourself, and I’m here to help you do it with purpose, style, and faith.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I’m a small-town girl who grew up with technology, but the online world changes fast. One thing that’s worked for me is going live to sell my jewelry and show the real, authentic me — from behind-the-scenes at vendor events to family gatherings. I keep my business pages separate but connected, batch and schedule content, and make time daily to respond to comments. I join like-minded groups, build genuine relationships, and use tools like QR codes to make it easy for people to follow me. Social media takes work, but it’s a must in today’s world — and staying ahead means looking at what’s next, like streaming.
3 Quick Tips for Growing Your Social Media
Be Authentic – Show your real self, not just the polished business version.
Engage Consistently – Respond to comments and messages to build real connections.
Work Smarter – Batch content, repurpose photos/videos, and use tools like QR codes.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My best source of new clients is good old-fashioned conversation. I hand out business cards everywhere — networking events, bars, gas stations, drive-throughs — anywhere I meet people. I don’t miss an opportunity to talk about my business. Every interaction is a chance to make a connection, and those face-to-face moments often turn into my most loyal customers.
