Courtney , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?

I honestly believe running a business is 20% skill & 80% mindset! I jumped into this with zero business education, marketing skills, capital or even knowledge on how to access capital . I boot strapped CG Candle Collection & was able to advance and find opportunities because I worked closely on my mindset , dedication, outlook, & self-talk. Success comes , you just have to surrender and have faith in yourself at all times. My mom would FORCE me to go up to people and sell my products , sell my brand , & sell my vision. She always said “Who’s going to sell your product like you?.Only you … you have to start somewhere and be fearless!” I was often nervous to hear the word no & it really upset me most of the time . I started to work on my mindset and heal wounds that were linked to the feeling of rejection and failure from childhood. Success become my only option. I began to live a life continuously envisioning success , speaking it into existence, & rarely doubting myself.

Courtney Grace Candle Collection is a reflection of Courtney’s self improvement journey. She embraced self-love, confidence, and positivity as a crucial tool to healing . Through her journey she manifested CG Candle Collection which is now a relatable brand for many. They offer hand poured 100% soy wax aromatherapy candles infused with essential oils that provide a deep sense of relaxation and focus. Their candles are known for being very fragrant and aromatic, filling up an entire room with decadent scent.

CG Candle Collection offers a unique line of intentional crystal home decor that is individually created to promote positive energy in your home. They are a one-stop-shop for uniquely curated gifts, metaphysical products, one of a kind terrariums , live house plants, & succulents.

Have you ever had to pivot?

Two years ago CG Candle Collection was invited to be apart of a NYC Pop up & Social event . We were asked to format our retail display vertically instead of horizontally on a traditional 6 ft table. Because of this request it kind of set us back and we were unsure on how to execute our traditional horizontal set up into a beautiful vertical set up. We then got to the drawing board and came up with the idea to purchase foldable wooden cabinets to display our candles as if it were an actual retail store display. This amazing idea and pivot contributed to our financial success at various markets there after , we usually had one of the most beautiful & cohesive retail displays at many of the markets we attended & were often complimented.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

CG Candle Collections Social media following is 100% organic. We have never paid for any advertising/followers. We made sure to consistently incentivize our customers to follow our brand on social media to ensure they would be updated on any CG Candle updates or promotions. We have grown tremendously on social media by word of mouth and it has contributed to our very close relationships with our clients and essentially is the reason we have a great return customer rate.
