We were lucky to catch up with Courtney Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Courtney, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
Cinematic Vizuals started with a camera, a vision, and the need to create something of my own. At first, I was just shooting music videos, but I realized I didn’t just love filming—I loved telling stories. I saw a gap: so many brands had great products but weak visuals. Their content didn’t match their value, and I knew I could fix that.
The logic was simple—video is one of the most powerful ways to market anything, and businesses need high-quality content. I had the creative eye, the skills, and the drive to make it happen. So, I started investing in myself—learning the business side, refining my offer, and building my website, all while still working my full-time job.
Now, Cinematic Vizuals is growing, and I get to do what I love—help brands show up the right way. What started as a creative outlet is now a business built on purpose, passion, and visuals that make an impact.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Cinematic Vizuals, a full-service video marketing agency built for brands that want more than just content—they want impact. My journey into video started with music videos. I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, especially through visuals, and for years, I was just creating for the love of it. But over time, I realized video wasn’t just art—it was strategy. Businesses were throwing out content without purpose, struggling to make real connections, and I knew I could fix that.
At Cinematic Vizuals, we specialize in high-quality video marketing that doesn’t just look good—it works. We create everything from brand storytelling videos to social media content, with a strong focus on Instagram Reels. Our goal? To help brands show up consistently and stay memorable. We take care of everything—pre-production, production, post-production—so our clients don’t have to stress about what to post or how to stay relevant.
What sets us apart? We’re not just videographers; we’re strategists. A lot of businesses think video is about “going viral” or just having something pretty to post. We know it’s bigger than that. Video is about trust, visibility, and conversion. We help brands create videos that actually speak to their audience and drive results—not just sit on a feed and get ignored.
I’m most proud of the fact that I built this business from the ground up. No shortcuts, no handouts—just pure passion and problem-solving. I had to learn everything—from building a website to figuring out pricing to structuring retainers. And now, I get to help brands who are just as passionate about what they do, making sure they have a visual presence that matches their energy.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about Cinematic Vizuals, it’s this: We get it. We get the grind, the struggle to stand out, and the frustration of feeling unseen. We’re here to change that—one video at a time.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Cinematic Vizuals was funded the way a lot of businesses are—through my full-time job. From the start, I used my paycheck to invest in what I needed, from better gear to building my website. Every extra dollar went back into the business so I could create at the level I envisioned.
Balancing both hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it. My wife, who runs her own business, has been a huge support, helping me make smart financial moves so I wasn’t just spending but actually building.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I’ve never been the type to just sit and read a bunch of business books, but there are definitely some resources that have shaped the way I approach running Cinematic Vizuals. A big one is The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber—it really opened my eyes to the difference between being a great creative and actually running a business. It made me realize that if I wanted to grow, I couldn’t just work in my business; I had to work on it.
I also take a lot of inspiration from video marketers and entrepreneurs who share real, actionable advice—people like Gary Vee and Alex Hormozi. They don’t sugarcoat things, and their mindset around consistency, branding, and value-based marketing has helped me refine my own approach.
But honestly, experience has been my biggest teacher. Every project, every mistake, and every lesson along the way has shaped the way I manage my business. I’m always learning, adapting, and figuring out how to make Cinematic Vizuals stronger.
