We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Courtney Bohlman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Courtney, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It takes commitment to your dream and holding it loosely. It also takes time haha The journey of owning your own business is just that, a journey. You will hit many speed bumps, sharp turns, and dead stops as you travel along this glorious ride. However, if you keep your eyes centered on your dream and keep stepping every day, you will get there.
When things appear to be going “wrong” or you are met with a perceived “failure” you have to slow down for a moment, analyze what happened, learn what you can and then continue to move forward. Learn from everything and you will always keep growing.
As you keep growing and changing, most likely the dream will change as well, which is why I said to hold it loosely. Your growth and change allows growth and change within your business. If you get to rigid with your dream, you will suffocate it. Stay in flow with life, with the journey, with the dream and I can promise that what you create will be MORE THAN you ever imagined it to be.

Courtney, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Wholesome Alchemy first started because I recognized a need in the world. A need to be of larger service to this planet and all the beings upon it. Courtney had recently returned from developing a school in Ghana and felt called to expand that impact. She wanted to find a way to support those communities, along with her local community, all while making a positive impact in the world. It has been a journey and each year our company becomes something more…we don’t know the final destination (even though we hold a vision) but we are here for the unfolding. Today we are proud to be a 100% Organic health & wellness company. Leading 6-8 retreats a year and 2-3 Yoga Teacher trainings, plus the variety of programs, courses, and coaching programs directly through our website.
We are incredibly proud of the growth and impact of Wholesome Alchemy. A company that was created for service.
Our soap making journey began in 2014 and in February of 2020 we opened our doors. Courtney had a vision: To spread health and wellness, by turning everyday essentials into a wholesome, organic, luxury experience with the highest standard of quality, care, and love.
Wholesome Alchemy began as a 100% organic, vegan, and handmade body care product line. Just like the food we eat, we only use fresh, natural, and wholesome ingredients that will positively contribute to your health. These products started as a personal healing journey for our founder, Courtney Bohlman. Having been diagnosed with cancer in her 20’s along with having battled with rashes and itchy dry skin for most of her life, she began seeking and creating a better alternative. A product line that would heal and nourish skin, while working with the body to create balance—and healing our earth in the process.
A company that would give back more than it took. But how?
We donate soap, shampoo, and supplies to local shelters and non-profit organizations MONTHLY. We have some powerful connections growing, but are also looking for more as our company continues to grow.
We are organic, vegan, sustainable, and almost completely plastic free.
The products we create are all handcrafted in the United States but at Wholesome Alchemy we believe that each of us is a global citizen. We understand that we have to make choices that help all of man-kind (not just Americans).
That is the path we are walking.
Our philosophy is in alignment with the creation of our products. Less is more and simple is better. We aim to holistically heal, nourish and maintain a healthy body, mind, heart, and spirit while using 100% natural, wholesome and organic Ingredients.
We want Wholesome Alchemy to help make our world a better place. Keeping this at the front of our minds drives us to use renewable and sustainable ingredients. Our packaging is made from recycled materials and we are almost completely plastic free (besides a little bubble wrap & plastic in our essential oil roll-ons). We have made these choices for our organization because we know that this world belongs to all of us.
At Wholesome Alchemy not only do we want to “leave no trace” but we want to make the world a better place! We are continually developing relationships in developing countries where we can source our oils directly from small farmers. With our ultimate goal being to source all of our materials this way (we are almost there).
A portion of our profits go towards funding and developing schools and education in West Africa, with the knowing that we will expand into other countries as time continues and our company grows. Allowing our profits to go back into our global community.
Wholesome Alchemy isn’t just our name. It is a commitment to crafting magically wholesome, healthy products, and educating the world on why living a wholesome and healthy life is important.
We strive to live with compassion, kindness and empathy; to be environmentally sustainable and to improve the lives of all beings, while also being charitable and giving back to our global community.
If you feel called to join us in this mission, then reach out today and together we can explore how you can work with us to make this world a more wholesome, healthy, and ultimately a “better” place for ALL.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
You can’t serve those who don’t serve themselves.
As a company of service, we started by trying to serve every soul we met. We quickly learned that this was a bit of an unrealistic mission, especially when it came to our courses and programs. If the individuals who join our spaces don’t choose to show up fully within them, then it doesn’t matter how LIFE CHANGING our programs are because they are not committed to implement what they learn.
It has to happen both ways. So over the years we have created spaces to serve people at the various stages of the journey. :)

How did you build your audience on social media?
Being authentic and vulnerable. This are pillars within our community and that is exactly how I show up in the online space. I share it all, from my heart, with compassion and love. I allow my community to see that life is not always perfect and it is not always easy. I share the wins and the lessons. I share the journey I am going through in hopes it can serve them on theirs. \
We have a community because I teach and lead from a space of oneness and truth. This comes through on all of our social media platforms.
