We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Courtney Besser. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Courtney below.
Courtney, appreciate you joining us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Intune Wellness really developed itself during the pandemic. March of 2020 I was furloughed from my long time spa job at Four Seasons Denver. Since the world and my world came to a standstill, I had an extended amount of time for the first time in my life to really think about what I wanted to do. I’ve been a massage therapist/esthetician at my old spa and always worked with private clients outside of work. Pre pandemic I was also teaching yoga consistently with group classes at studios and private lessons at my old spa. I also practiced Reiki for a long time and felt the itch to incorporate and dive deeper into energy work. So when I jumped into entrepreneurship full force summer of 2020, I began to bring together everything that I do. I knew I would succeed because I was passionate and stood behind all of my offerings. As business picked up, I also became interested and intrigued by sound healing/ sound baths. 2 sound bath certifications later, Intune Wellness now offers 1:1 and group experiences with massage, Reiki energy work, sound baths, and yoga.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Courtney Besser and I have been in the wellness industry for the past 16yrs. I was a former professional dancer/dance teacher and when I started to feel burnt out, I decided to go to massage therapy school. Little did I know that I would still be in this industry today. Through working in massage and bodywork, I learned about Reiki and got certified in Levels 1, 2 and the master level. Years later while working at Four Seasons Denver Spa as a massage therapist, esthetician, and private yoga instructor, I boldly made a pivot into entrepreneurship during the pandemic. Currently my business Intune Wellness offers massage, Reiki energy work, intuitive readings, yoga, and group/private sound bath experiences. I also love to collaborate with other businesses to host unique group workshops, yoga, and sound bath events.
My mission is to help others to connect to their intuition through all of my offerings. I feel that when you are in integrity and stay true to your unique self, you are able to truly thrive at whatever you want to do.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Definitely word of mouth! My offerings are 1:1 and also group experiences. I am on social media and promote my offerings and events on there, but get referrals for massage, Reiki, and intuitive readings. And those clients that I see for those offerings will usually check out a yoga/sound bath event. I am so thankful for my regular clients and their referrals!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The fact that I can make a living having an out of the box career while really helping people and being of service to others is the best thing ever!!I get to just be myself and share my gifts and what I know and have learned without compromising myself to ‘fit in a box’. I have never been interested in just one career or one hobby. My background is in dance, music and wellness. (massage, Reiki, esthetics, yoga) I am able to use all of my talents in unique and creative ways to deeply connect with people to help them connect to themselves. I become so inspired by many of the people I meet and connect with as clients or at events. It’s the best thing ever!
