We were lucky to catch up with Courtney recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice I gave to my client when it comes to them changing their healthy lifestyle was “mind over mattered” & “The best version in the mirror is you”.
My client took my advice and became very consistent and made me super proud as she was sending me videos, and photos of her progress.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Courtney Donaldson. I’m originally from Columbia, SC. My occupation is that I’m a physical therapy technician at a rehabilitation facility in Atlanta Georgia where I guide therapeutic exercises/functional exercises with patients. I’ve been a physical therapy technician for three years. I’m also a certified fitness instructor and trained people since 2020. Before going into the medical field I was a school teacher and taught PREK for fourteen years. For fitness I started off going to the gym and wanted to start off the level I was mostly comfortable which is cardio. After loosing 10-13 pounds I told myself that I was ready to be introduced to strength training. My favorite strength training exercises would have to be leg day, kettlebells, and upper body sculpt combos.
What I’m mostly proud of from these two great fields is observing my patients/clients giving me great feedback on how well they feel physically, and mentally. I love to give fresh ideas on what they can do at home doing exercises versus being at the clinic.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is through social media. Instagram is where I’m mostly active and that’s where people would find me.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I believe networking is the key to succeeding and getting yourself out there for people to know about who I am and what I do.
