We were lucky to catch up with Courtland Lee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Courtland , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Starting my artist management company right after graduating from college was the biggest risk I’ve taken. It may not have been the most popular choice among my peers, but I was bold enough to embrace it. What fueled my decision was not mere ambition, but a deep-rooted conviction that I was being led by God. Life is not about constantly playing it safe or staying within our comfort zones. While most fresh graduates seek employment in established companies, I ventured into uncharted territory. Although my attempt to work for a company in Nashville didn’t pan out, it was clear that was not God’s plan for me at that time. He wanted me to trust Him entirely, to step out on faith and utilize the resources He had provided. Hence, I now proudly own an artist management company called 1 Real Sound Enterprises. Under its umbrella, I manage three talented individuals – a gospel artist, along with two R&B and Hip Hop artists. It’s through taking risks and putting my faith in God that I’ve bloomed into who I am today.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
When it comes to my journey in music, let me tell you, it all began when I was just a two-year-old. Picture a little toddler, passionately drumming away on everything from sofas to pots and pans. My love for music grew, and along with it, my desire to help others. This led me to pursue a career in Music Business and Artist Management. Although I may be fresh in the industry and lacking in experience, my clients trust our journey together. We learn from one another and grow alongside each other. I want you to know that my brand and foundation are deeply rooted in faith, as without God, none of this would be possible. What truly sets me apart, however, is my unwavering heart and undeniable passion for music. It’s never about the money; it’s about the art and the impact it creates.
