Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Courteney Winter . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Courteney, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice I’ve told my clients was to invest in themselves. For my career I’m always providing and helping clients meet there skin care goals and the number one piece of advice to anyone who wants to better themselves whether it’s your skin, your health or your overall well being is invest the most in yourself. If you don’t feel your best how are you going to go out in the world and give 100%? So I tell them you are the most important person in your life so why not make yourself happy. I’ve had a lot of clients who came and had troubled skin and I put them on a skin care regimen because I want them to be happy with there skin and I told them trust the process I promise I will be with you through this journey and watching there skin change into the skin they always dreamed of is the biggest accomplishment in my career.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into this industry because I grew up around skin care. My grandmother and aunt were both estheticians and they were always keeping me up to date on the latest skin care and teaching me at a very young age how to take care of my skin. I took that knowledge and would always being giving my friends advice and I realized wait I love doing this why don’t I do this as a career? I loved seeing my friends ask me for advice and helping them with their skin. So I eventually went to school and fell in love with skin care even more. I take pride in learning everything there is to know about skincare. The thing is there is so many different skin types, colors, and textures that not everything works for everyone. What sets me apart is taking the time to evaluate your skin to set you up on the right treatment and skin care regimen and being there for your through it all, because it’s not just a one time fix it takes time and patience but if your consistent and trust the process you will get the skin you’ve always wanted.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think the biggest thing in the esthetics industry what I have learned being in it is listening. Not enough people listen they just want to do what they think is right instead of listening to the customer. We all have vision or a dream of what we want to do or look like or and experience we want to have so how can I bring that to life if I don’t listen? So to me I listen to my clients and do my best in making their vision come true.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I would 100% choose the same profession. I love helping people more than anything and getting to see my clients come to me every month happy with there results makes me so happy I wouldn’t change it for the world. What better than to make someone feel good about themselves. We’re in a world where there is a lot of doubt and insecurities and I love to help people make them love themselves and walk confidently in their skin.
