We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cory Steward a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cory, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a customer success story with us?

I was referred to Cheryl by her friend who I also coached for a VP role in Massachusetts. Cheryl needed help preparing for a City Manager role in Cambridge. This was a 5 step interview process. We had to redo her online image since she would be serving in a public role. She hasn’t had to interview in over 15 years and needed a refresher and help navigating the questions she would get from the city council members and the public. I worked with her to develop a plan of action to navigate the city’s tough interview process. After a few months of coaching she was able to share her vison for the city and why they should select her. At the time of this article I am happy to say she has made it to the final round. She was a joy to work with because she paid attention and completed the homework as requested. I love all of my clients but this one was special.

I really enjoy watching the confidence level go up as I work with my clients. It’s always rewarding to bring value and help them get the results they are looking for. There is nothing better then a good review on google or helping someone increase their salary by 18k .

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

The lesson I learned was not to wait for the perfect situation and pay for the best service. Just get started with what you have and do the best you can. Mistakes will happen but you must move forward. When I first got started I didn’t have a coach and tried to keep cost low. This actually cost me more money then if I would have did it right the first time. Sometimes low cost will make you feel like your getting a deal but in fact you should budget for the best and nothing less.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

I personally like to check on my clients after their services has ended to follow up on their progress and keep them accountable. They will always be my customers and I want to make sure they are progressing well. I also feature past clients on my Instagram and ask them for a video testimonial.
